most schools won't let you wear a hat or a bandanna for that matter. which most likely started the issue. the t-shirts deal sounds like some principal trying to get the kids to respect his authoritah. which they didn't so he tried to push the issue and ended up expelling them in an effort to safe face.

I would have laid down some verbage, with a few this flag ain't coming off comments, and gone home as well. let the school super deal with the principal, i bet he will be giving an appology soon.

Just be grateful none of you guys had to live and work in SoCal when all the really big immigration rallies were going of 3-4 years ago. Also the Hispanic don't come to work day was great.

Where do we live again???????

Some good news, the Navy Seal was aquited today for "roughing up" a terrorist. Still ticks me off he was at trial anyway. Our job is to KILL them...who cares if we punched one in the stomach while trying to aprehend him.

This principal will pay for his decision....at least I hope...if not there is something seriously wrong with our country.

I'd be pissed if my kid were sent home because he wore a flag T shirt. This kinda crap makes me wonder where the hell I live.

I fly a flag on my front porch every day it is not raining, should I take that down on May 5th too?

Idiots!!!

So much for the bill of rights

eat your platanos, play your carnival music, leave U.S. alone
(and btw I can appreciate LEGAL latinos in N. america)

Before I start let me say that I completely disagree with the actions of the school's principal and vice principal's actions. I imagine they will issue an apology swiftly or will find their jobs in jeopardy.

However; while I understand the right to voice your opinion and support for our Country I imagine it hard for them (the boys in questions) to justify that their timing was coincidence with the date (even though it is not Mexico's independence day like 7/4 for the USA, it appears to be a important date in Mexico's history).

While I would have no objection to Mexican Americans wearing a Mexican flag t-shirt on our 4th of July I think that there might have been some animosity (in this instance) by the individuals wearing their American flag shirts. I also would like to think of myself as not be a person to purposely discriminate any race / ethnicity.

I do think there is a huge problem with the way our Country handles immigration, but think there is no place for racism especially when it is deliberate. If you are legal then your are legal if not, you are in violation of the law and should not have the same rights as a US citizen.

Just trying to give a different perspective on the issue.

Don't ban me for it ;).

:grinpimp:

I agree with what you say that the boys in question knew exactly what they were doing. I think though they would be proving a point. Many kids that were born and raised here still want nothing to do with loving this country. I've seen plenty of people wearing and flying Mexican flags on the 4th.

It just makes my blood boil as I am an immigrant and do love this country.

In debates over illegal immigration it almost always comes down to quality of life. Well just the 12 million illegals that are estimated to be in the boarder states could easily bring about a revolution and reform in their countries of birth if wanted.
