I have enjoyed reading other people's builds and have learnt a lot. So if its of interest to you, here is a newbie jumping head first into his first offloading toy!
I live in New Zealand and as a kid I loved the BJ74 cruisers. Finally I now own one!!. It's a 1989 BJ74 cruiser, 13BT powered 5speed manual LX model with 180,000km on the clock.
The previous owner started working on it and the missis pulled the purse strings on him.
Between the last owner and myself, it has an ARB rear locker, 33"M/T tires, a modest suspension lift, front and rear bars, 3" exhaust, and a descent set of front seats, and currently getting a tidy up in the paint and panel department. I have ordered a front mount intercooler, fitting an electric radiator fan and EGT gauge.
It's currently in pieces on my garage floor as I'm making room for the intercooler.

Figured the electric fan gave me more room for the intercooler. I fitted the biggest fan I could find (16")on it. The air flow issue has crossed my mind and I'm holding onto all the bits I have removed in case I need to go back. I originally decided I would go with water to air intercooler but they seem to be very pricey!

Right, so I have re fitted the factory fan, trimmed the shroud back to make it fit due to the radiator being moved back towards the motor. Front mount is in place, along with the piping from the turbo to the intercooler. Waiting on more silicon joiners to arrive for the other pipe.
Does anybody have any input as to how to mount the wastegate actuator? Turning the turbo housing has moved it's old mounting holes out of reach.
Do I just make a bracket to reach around the turbo to its old holes?

1.)the wastgate accurator (right below the tubro inlet) has 2 bolts on it, remove thoses bolts
2.) stick washers(how ever many u want) in behind the wastagate accurator and then stick the bolts back together again
3.) put everything back to gether and enjoy!

The more/thicker washers you put in the higher the boost will be, I have about 4mm of washers in mine to get ~20psi. I would suggest you start with say a 1.5-2mm washer and test it out.
