Hello to all-
Name is Chris, and I just now, after having my truck for a couple years, started looking for people to call "family." I was given a 1985 Toyota 4Runner from a friend, and sadly, there is alot I don't know about the truck. I'm a motorcycle geek, so just dealing with the extra two wheels on the truck is a fiasco enough in itself, but anyhoo.
-1985 Toyota 4Runner
-22RE engine, no turbo
-coilovers in front (too rusted to see any markings/maker
-leafs in back need to be replaced (I think they are so shot they are actually curving down)
-Not running too great right now (haven't done a compression/leak down test, but I would bet rings/valves are my culprit
-wicked shimmy when braking, I may want to check that out
-I love the damn thing.
The P.O. said that this truck (he always referred to it as the "off-road" model) was somewhat unique in that when it was made, the engine actually was that from the next years model (something about them running out of the current years engine and dropping in next years instead...who knows.)
Favorite thing about the truck: Clinometer...bad ass
Hoping to add to the garage (or swap for) a fj40 (also bad ass)
