Newbie w/ Stuck Oil Pan

Hi all,

I'm looking for some advice. After reading up on a couple of threads here regarding stuck oil pans I've found most often the solution is to provide pressure on the oil pan using bottle or floor jacks. I've tried this, but that has not thus far worked. I've purchased a dremmel tool to cut around the oil pan in hopefully a successful attempt to remove the old gasket, which has gotten to be extremely HARD over the years (I don't think the oil pan has ever been removed before). Any other sage words to hopefully bring about a solution to this problem?

There is no easy solution in my experience. The last one I removed (from a 3FE) I had to carefully chisel it off without gouging the block or the pan. Took forever but I eventually got it off.
 
Careful use of an air chisel has always done it to me. Be careful not to go too far inside the flange, or dig into the block.
 
place a 2X4 against the lower vertical side of the pan and smack it with a hammer. The wood will disperse the force and not dent the pan.
 
Is it entirely necessary to remove the flywheel/clutch bottom? Anyone else done that? In the above post is the first I read about that.

Helpfull, but not necessary. Just provides more open access to the rear main bearing area. Easy to take off, though.

Careful application of a heat gun helps to soften up old cork gaskets.
