Ok im a new guy in the forums and i did a little bit of searching before i decided to make this post. My dad passed me down a 89 Cruiser with a problem with the auto trans. When giving gas I can hear a whining/Squealing noise from the flywheel area, and notice the trans to feel like its slipping. But im going to change the filter and fluid to see if maybe that will fix the problem. Any other advice ?

First check to see that the transmission fluid is at the correct level.

Drop the pan check for shavings and see if it (the fluid)n smells burnt.

If all else fails adjust the kick down cable.
ARE you 100% sure it is coming from the flywheel area?

Is the tranny temp light coming on?

What kind of fluid is in it?

well i did a service and cleaned out the filter.. but one of the internal pumps went out so im going to be in the market for another trans
