Hi there, I have always loved RC vehicles since I was young, I would like to get back into it. I am thinking I would like something fast instead of crawling, I also have thought of helicopters as well. The thing that puts me off on helicopters are the cost, chance/likelihood of crashing, and training to operate them. The desert trucks seem pretty neat or the Truxx's (did I mispell that?) seem pretty neat too. I think it would be pretty cool to get into gas powered ones, and also larger trucks/buggies.

What are the opinions on here for the most fun and bang for the buck? I know these are really general but I wanted to get all opinions. I would like to stay under 250 bucks and not have to spend gobs of time assembling it.

Thanks!

it would be hard to stay under 250. unless you buy used but i would not recommend that for nitros. the traxxes tmax is a very fun nitro truck 40+ mph. 2 speed trans. with reverse but it will coast about 500+. helicoptors now you can get from 100 and up some of the ones in the 100 range are very nice and are simple to fly.

i like the crawlers now cus they have a long run time. and a lot cheaper for breaking stuff.
heres a pic of my traxxes tmax.

The new technology helis are way cool,my boy has a small one that is a blast to fly indoors, about $120. The next step up is about $230 and will work in or outdoors. Traxxis makes a electric slash for about $200,then you need batts, and charger. If you think your gonna get away with buying one, good luck! There really addictive.I'll have to post my RC wall somtime. You should be able to get a ready to run version of whatever you want for about $300.

Those are really, cool, I can tell it's going to get dangerous if I get into it, I can see getting more than one already. I think I will primarily be using to see how fast it will go and bashing it around, especially on camping trips.

I may start with one of those CX heli's just because they are pretty cheap and I can mess around with it while I am home with the kids. I might progress to a truggy or something like the revo. I like the look of the slayer and the idea of nitro, I think it would be fun to learn to tune the engines. I will post up what I get, I am thinking a small coax heli to start!

When you do get into it I can help you if needed. I have 4 of them now and my Son has 6!. Nitro is the way to go, Like in that youtube video from my kid blyzzard21 on youtube, we were at the beach running our cars for 5 hours straight. All you got to do is keep an eye on the temperature of the engine and keep the screws tight on the chassis and you can run all day! You are gonna love it. My nitro rustler goes 55 MPH! That Rustler VXL with a brushless motor and Lithium Polymer (lipo) battery will go 70 MPH +

I got the Blade CX3 Coaxial heli, just came out and I snagged it. It has a pretty cool police body to it and apparently it sits higher than the CX2. I am addicted! I will post pics soon, I have many wrecks already under my belt.

The other big deal coming out sounds like it's going to the Traxxas summit, basically all in one basher/rock crawler. The hobby store guy said that it has a remotely lockable differential, it's the only one to have it. The downside is price, he said it will be $520 to start, and then another $150 for batts/charger-ouch! I might have to wait for that one but this heli is awesome!

I personally am a Traxxas fan. I got my Tmaxx on ebay for $250 several years ago, and it was in great shape and ready to run. The Traxxas Stampede's (electric or nitro) are a lot of fun to.

Me too

I was hooked on Traxxas until I bought my 1/36 scale micro desert truck from Losi. Since then I bought a 1/18 scale crawler and a 1/8 scale Truggy. I have been pretty impressed with Losi thus far

I have a traxis tmax that I bought for my son 2 years ago and we were about 1 tankful away from being broken in when it got away from us. We were both complete noobs and had never even seen an rc vehicle run before. We were in over our heads and trying to stop it with pinching the fuel hose while the tires ate my hand up etc... We never used it again. I'm too old, and he's too young. We would sell it for 300.00 and include the charger and kit we bought with it. It didnt get wrecked or anything so it is just like brand new. Is there a classified section for this RC group? Gary 360 376 2449

Of course nobody told us about that... Is 300.00 about the right price for this truck?

You should see a VXL with a brushless motor and lipo battery. my son's buddy has one. It will go 70+

I can't imagine. Just with regular batteries blows the doors off my xl5. I'm going to upgrade mine some day.

I have a T-Maxx that's been sitting for 4 years. It's 3/4 built up (steel drivetrain, extended suspension etc etc etc) all the batteries, chargers, 3 sets of wheels/tires and a good bit of tools and spare parts including a new transmission still in the box.

It needs a new starter or a conversion to pull-start, but it ran last time I used it. I just don't have the time for it anymore.

I've put somewhere around $2k into it, I'll sell it all for $250 plus shipping.

Wow there are few people getting out of it on here, I kind of wish I would have went for that Tmax instead of the heli! I will have to think about that, it would be nice not to break something everytime I use the damn thing when I crash. That Tmaxx for $300 is nitro right?

Yes, Nitro! Call and make an offer...:D
