I need to buy a new set of wipers and I am looking for the best ones out there. I hate driving a car with lousy wipers. Is OE considered better than Rain X? I was told that Rain X are considered the best from lady at Pep Boys.

I've been using Bosch Icons and they work great.

There's also a thread over the 100's group that gives some opinions as well - Best Windshield Wiper

I've had great luck with the Bosch wipers. I do like the factory wipers on my 200 and will price the replacements when the time comes. The Bosch wipers are a little cheaper on Amazon than going to a parts store.

When you go to the dealer there are 2 types of blades. Inserts and the complete assembly. Dealers know the assembly are trash as they are made by a US MFG. The inserts are JDM and are the original blades. Dealers won't tell you the difference but the price indicates the major difference.

Ask for the inserts if you buy OE.

Amazon sells the OEM blades pretty cheap. They look like the inserts:

The rear looks might be an assembly:

I looked at the link on the 100 forum, it was an even mixed bag between OEM, Bosch, and Veleo. The only complaint with OEM was ice/snow handling but the price is ~$10/ea. Might as well as carry a backup of each in the car.

I had problems with none OEM wipers. Rubber so soft the blade would pop off wiper arm in heavy snow conditions. Put in OEM problem gone.

OEM all the way. Most aftermarket wipers are sub par and/or don't last. The OEMs may not be as sexy, but functionally, they are excellent!

Just got home from my one-and-only Toyota dealer. Toyota parts departments no longer sell wiper blade refills--just the complete OEM assembly for $19 each + tax. So, I'm going to try one of the after market brands & see what happens.

Ordered the Michelin assemblies from Amazon and saved about $10 over the dealer's price for OEM.

I have to recommend staying with the OEM on the wipers. I tried the RainX. Performance was fine but they sit higher up on the windshield and the adapter block is much larger than the factory one, going directly in your view out the windshield. Bought new ones off a Toyota dealer on eBay and I much prefer them.

Which RainX did you try? I just bought Rain-X Expert Fit Beam Wiper Blade, 24'' and I love them! I wish I had put this on my rear instead of OEM. The windshield is very clean and no noise. I haven't been able to find anything to complain about them yet in last 3-4 weeks.

I got the RainX Latitude:

Performance was excellent, I just noticed the two adapter blocks (designed for multiple types of connections) sticking up and in the sightlines. The Toyota wipers are flush all the way across:

I never had OEM on the front so I don't know how good they are. The RainX Experts are definitely thicker than my previous RainX wipers, to me they look meatier. I haven't noticed the blocks in my line of sight but maybe I wasn't paying attention. The RainX wipers they replaced there is a night and day difference.

In my experience, just about anything works well......when NEW.

The difference seems to be in how soon they start to fail and leave streaks.

I've always had issues with non-OEM wiper blades. I'm going with OEM next time around.

Gaijin is the one who tipped me off to these wiper blades. I like them and plan to use them again if they last 6 months.
