I've sinned and sold my original owner 1994 LC and bought a 2024 Tacoma Trailhunter.

No aftermarket products yet so I've had to ghetto fab a mount for my Yaesu FT-8800. Too tight under the front seats for the radio body and both the truck and hybrid batteries are undercover rear seats.

Didn't come out too bad. I still need to run power and use to the antenna.

Only thing I don't like is that it prohibits moving the passenger seat forward enough for my wife and it makes leg room in the rear seat tight.

I'd separate the head and mount it somewhere and put the 'base' somewhere in the back area - I assume there is some room for the base under/behind something.

Got to love modern vehicles, they find every nook and cranny to fit another cup holder, but leave no room for the important stuff :)

Should have kept your 80

cheers,
george.

Hi George! No room under the rear seats as it's a hybrid. Car battery under the driver rear and hybrid battery under the passenger rear.

There's a very little room under the driver seat and I'd be concerned about heat from the base sitting right on the carpet. Believe me, that'd be my first choice. I have a Ram suction mount that'd work great for the faceplate only on the front windshield at the A pillar!

30 years with the 80! She's gone to a good home!!😪😀

Update...did squeeze the base under the driver seat andcreused all the longer wiring I'd used in the Landcruiser to place the face plate up next to the driver pillar. I like this set up better.
