Come to think about what I read regarding to locking the front wheel (some said do, other don't). I am wondering whether locking the front wheel is to prevent axle from spinning.... Though I would like to know - What is the real benefit to have the front locked while doing the axle job?

My understanding is that locking the front differential aids in aligning the axles during reinstallation, but from what I have read, this is not really required -- you just have to have the knuckles aligned so the wheels would be straight (if they were on) and have patience. I will be able to report how successful this is later in the week.

I was trying to lock the center differential to limit wheel spin when I dropped off the stands -- this would probably have had little or no impact if I had actually succeeded because the front differential was still open. I think the screwdriver or wood blocks are much better suggestions.

Yeah dont sweat it
