I'm going to keep my Land Cruiser for life, I don't care how much I put into it, it will still be less money than buying a new Rubicon or TRD. Besides, our vehicles are the best Toyota ever made, period.

I'd consider the 4Runner for the wife/family.
I agree that newer Toyota's have lost their ruggedness but they are building them for the mass market, not our little group of enthusiasts.
Will at Sierra Expo has a story about modifying the new 4Runner. If I recall correctly he snapped the fiber optic connection to the ABS sensor while installing a lift. The connection limits lift to no more than two inches.
If Toyota wanted to make a splash in the off-road market they'd import the 70 series. Sadly that will never happen due to gov-ment regulation and the lack of a market.
