I have currently been doing quite a bit of research on different additions I can make to my Land Cruiser so it will be more beefy for off-roading. So I need some help/input!

Right now I am looking at the Ironman Protector Winch Bull Bar
(Protector Winch Bull Bar - Toyota LC100 Series [BBT006] - $832.00 : CruiserParts.net, Toyota Landcruiser Parts)

The Ironman Suspension Kit
(Ironman 4x4 - 100 Series Land Cruiser Suspension - Metal Tech 4x4)

and also these sliders
(https://forum.ih8mud.com/100-series...-series-slider-group-buy-may-june-2012-a.html)

I am also on the look out for a nice pair of off-roading tires that will still fit on my 16" rims...

Once again, I am new to all of this so any kind of input, opinion, suggestions, etc. would be awesome!

Welcome! Your list looks like a good one! As far as tires go, most on here have 285-75R16 or 295-75R16. I think the most popular tire is probably the Nitto Terra Grappler but lots of people run BFG all terrain and a variety of mud terrain tires.

There is a ton of info in this thread https://forum.ih8mud.com/100-series-cruisers/30754-100-series-lc-lx-faq-featured-trucks.html

Also, the search function is a great tool! Almost any question you might have has been asked before, I've tested it!

Looks like you are off to a good start! All of the products you have selected are of good quality and should serve you well!

One thing to consider...If you are choosing product A over product B just because it saves you $50-100.00, wait until you have enough for product B. Not saying you are doing this, just putting it out there. When I first started my build I always had a favorite choice and an economical alternative. After going the economical route a couple of times, I would always find myself wishing I would have gotten the part I truly wanted. Within a few weeks I would end up buying my "1st choice", and selling the economical one at a loss. The whole point is that I ended up spending more than if I just would have gone with the products and options that I truly wanted in the 1st place.

This is all great help! Thanks.

I'm also wondering which I should buy first...
I'm a poor college student working 2 jobs, and am very anxious to get this project started, but I'm stumped on which to buy first because I'm having to buy everything piece by piece and not all at once...I found the front bumper on sale for 832$ compared to over a thousand on other sites, and the sliders are also on sale for $650 compared to $800...which do you suggest would be a good starting point?

What year is your truck? Certain years have design issues that should be addressed before all else.

Step one with any used vehicle should be to base line the maintenance.
  • Fluid change, engine trans,t-case differentials.
  • Check & replace hoses and belts
  • Check the brake wear
  • Look for obvious leaks, you may need to drop the Belly pan to do this since it can hide a lot of smaller leaks.
If you got service records from the Previous Owner (AKA the notorious PO) that will help.

The last thing a starving student wants is to blow all their cash on accessories and not have enough money left to fix a truck that broke for lack of maintenance.

BTW as a starving student you picked the wrong vehicle to build, just MHO.

This... Heck, keep it maintained and enjoy it stock. Just make sure you don't get yourself into somewhere that will cause damage. Doing that you will have a car that won't nickle and dime you to death (like my college car did) and you will learn what you need and don't need. After everything is baselined and up to date, if you get some extra cash start with sliders first. A banged up bumper can be replaced, rocker panals are not as easy!

I've owned the vehicle for 3 years, and it's been in the family for 11 years so I know that it's in great condition...we take great care of our vehicles so I know it's in immaculate condition. and secondly, I'm not worried about cost...I work two great jobs, and I'm living at home so I have money to spend on the build up and for gas.

i'm not too worried about it...i've been driving it for over 3 years, so i know it's pretty spendie to fill up. but i'm too in love with my car to get anything different haha

You'd better watch it, the single cruiser dudes are going to pick up on these types of statements pretty quickly. ;)

I second Chad's recommendation. Sliders first, then a front bumper.

You guys always make LCs sound like money pits. Look at all the other SUV platforms out there one could choose to build up/modify. I would argue completely the opposite. I think a LC100 is perhaps the most economical platform you could choose. I'm comparing this to other full-size SUV options like Land Rover, Nissan, Ford, Chevy. Having built up and owned many Land Rovers prior to my LC, Toyotas are cheap! Generally all they need are gas and oil changes! You actually *can* mod away and not worry about the rest of the truck falling apart...

My $.02

I would say it depends... all it took was tires to my LC from mall cruiser to offroad animal but if not tires first then sliders as recommended. I agree with your selection on the Metal Tech.

Tire size is tricky... 285/75-16 fits right up and is hassle free. 295 yeah, 305's well kinda 315 not without mods.
