It started with a want for a jeep, then moved to a new FJ and has now moved to older FJ40's. I need basic questions about models, options and looks. From what I can see, they all look pretty similar from 65-79? What year is the best? SBC swap seems to be pretty common, is it worth it? Found these two on local craigslist, seems to be a big price difference? 1972 Land Cruiser FJ40 1965 fj 40 land cruiser

What are these things worth? Things to look for when buying?

Turn off your computer and go buy the white one for around $4K. Then come back and ask some questions. You will be miles ahead of the game if you buy something rust free.

Sage advice...

...from all who replied above. Take it from someone who didn't do enough homework BEFORE purchasing.

Check out the FAQ at the top of this forum - lots of good info.

i've owned a few ...

fj's. the metal in the 65 to 69's seems better to me. although enviroment has a significant part to play.

my keeper DD is a 69. I have it set up to DD and to trail. I don't mess with fluff, or worry about stock stuff.

if it works, i use it. I will say that the 75's and newer are the worst for rust that you can find. i am just amazed at how my fj40-1/69 holds together compared to the 75's and on.

best of blessing on your journey. post up pics when you get seated.

ps. the 65 looks real nice. with a bit of care, it should be rust free for a good long time.
