New to the 80 forum (1 Viewer)

Hi all. Just got me a 80.

My name is Haffi and i´m in Iceland. Found the mud chat year ago or so when I was looking for some cool things to to to my good old 62.

That 62 live ended suddenly in a crash.... man that hurt alot loosing that great car.

The insurense company paid it out and I got me a 80 instead.
Now I have a 1990 HDJ81 with 1-hdt turbo diesel intercooler engine. 35" tires.

The mods I have done since I got it are:
New Alpine head unit
Installed my ICOM whf radio and my mobile phone.
Installed a Pioneer amplifier and a 12" subwoofer in a box in the rear.
Installed my Fm modulator for my Ipod.
Installed Alpine 6"x9" in the rear doors.
Removed the original speakers in the dash and installed new alpine speakers instead.
Had the time belt replaced.
Rebuilt the rear breake calipers and replaced all brake shoes.

On the plan for the next weeks:
Install a fini flash 12 volt air compressor and air tank.
Install a extra battery for all the aux stuff.
Hopefully I can afford a full repaint and before next winter.

I have spent alot ot time reading the 60, 80 and the Diesel chat, thanks alot everyone

Jason: I hit a 35" toyota Hilux. The driver told the police he had not seen me so he just made a turn right in my way. I hit his front right corner at 80-90 km/hour I guess. It was on monday morning at 8´clock and I was getting late to work so I was in a hurry

Alkaline: The 80 has some kind of lift springs and shocks, I dont know what kind. The front control arms have been dropped 5 cm. I cant see that anything has been done in the rear but lift springs and new shocks.

Man, 80´s are great!
