Hey guys,
I've recently relocated here from the DFW area for a new job. I do plan on attending a GCC meeting soon (not March's unfortunately). I am an active member of Toyota Trail Riders, TLCA, and LSLC. I still try to make it down south for some runs and am looking forward to going with y'all sometime. I'm pretty sure I know Lance (hey Lance) from the LSLC meetings at Pappa's in Dallas (I'm the '84 Poo Brown 60).

Besides the introduction, I had a question for you local guys...Where do you get your toyota parts when your in a hurry? Living in DFW I always got my parts from Toyota of Dallas because they're great guys and they're all good friends of mine. However, I find myself in a situation (wife's corolla) where I need to get parts ASAP. I ordered an $8 part from Bob Howard Toyota and it was the wrong one and now they won't accept a return on it (way bad customer service). So I call Dub Richardson from work and they won't order the part unless I come in and pay for it...company policy to not accept CC info over the phone. Is this the norm for OKC area dealers? I really don't want to sound negative, but I can't understand why a parts departmet would be willing to lose a customer over an $8 part.

Thanks for any advice and I hope to meet up with you guys soon (checking about going on the Poker Run)!

Cheers,
Matt

The OKC Toyota dealers are not as good as TOD. Dub used to be good before the got "bought out" by the Sonic Corp. Bob Howard is "hit and miss" on knowledge and service. I've used Hudiburg in the past, and they've been pretty good, especially when you get ahold of a certain parts guy (can't remember his name). Fowler in Norman is not service-oriented and I avoid them at all costs. Therefore, I still use TOD, even though they are not local. It would be better to order it from TOD, and have it shipped UPS (one day to OKC) and get the right one, AND get a 25% discount and not have to put up with the idiots they have behind the counters here. That's my opinion, until any OKC Toyota parts departments want to "step up to the plate"!

Hey Matt,

Welcome to OKC. If you need a part from TOD, and I'm there to pick up parts, I can always hand carry yours as I always travel back every weekend. Of course, if it's early in the week, and the parts are already in stock, then it's probably just as fast to have them ship directly to you. The OKC Toyota dealers stink, as Bret so correctly indicates, so your best bet it to use TOD, or Cruiserdan.

Lance

Thanks Bret and Lance! It's amazing how different each dealer can be in service and customer retention. TOD has always gotten my money (only bought here cause I needed the part next day) and I may take you up on your offer sometime Lance. Do you live at that place? :D I swear everytime I see you you have just left TOD picking up some part about to become extinct!!

Thanks again,
Matt

Matt, I usually swing TOD on my travel, or, on the Thursdays when the LSLC meeting is held. If I'm picking up parts, then I don't mind helping GCC members shave shipping, as long as I can fit them in my vehicle.

If your contemplating needing a part from TOD, just e-mail me through I8Hmud, and if I can pick it up, I'll be happy to do so.

Lance
