lol! i was tempted to build up my LC when I got it, but i choose to just use the truck for a while to prioritize my list based on my own personal needs. i'm glad i did, because the truck does everything i need in stock form (plus 285s).

now the priority is a dual battery system/fridge/OBA instead of a lift kit and armor.

so snapaxle, whats your experience?

As of right now, very little experience with mine off roading. I purchased the first one basically to deal with the blankets of snow on my frequent winter trips to Northern Michigan. I see some fire roads, but nothing that warranted anything other than tires.

The Lexus on the other hand, I spent most of my off road budget going ahead and doing the 90k service, and upgrading the head unit. (feel free to flame) Now I am just trying to fix the steering column.

Oh, I forgot, I have grille guards and taillight guards so every basket at the mall will tremble in fear upon my approach.

Also, know the area you're going to be wheeling in. Not to familiar with where you're going but the desert in my area is full of meth heads, drug runners and cyotes (not the furry kind). I can't imagine wheeling around here unarmed. That also begs the question of knowing the land your on and it's gun laws.

What area are you referring to?

Anyone else finding it odd as to how many members with highly modded trucks think stock is fine?

For a guy obviously new to off roading, yes the bone stock (or simply upgraded tires) 100 LC is very capable. For others who push the 100 to it's limits then YES the mods you see installed are justifiable and put to good use.

It all depends on what you want to accomplish with your rig and your driving style?

The flip side is you could have seen several members reply with "you must install $10k of mods before you touch dirt". That would not have served the original poster justice.
