Howdy CottonLand crew,
I guess it's time to quit lurking and actually announce my presence.
My name is Jordan, and I moved to Memphis late August for grad school and work. I'm in a master's program at the University of Memphis / Memphis State / Tiger High / whatever it's called... I work in a manufacturing facility in Southaven, MS, where we manufacture electrical components. Thomas&Betts is located right off of I-55 about 1/4 mile off Stateline. I'm an engineering "intern", so I run around and do everything from quality control, machine automation and troubleshooting, to fixture/jig drawing and design, and purchasing. It's been a great experience. I really enjoy my job, though school is... well... school
I guess I need to establish some street cred early in the game, so I'll drop a name that'll give me a couple stars worth. I consider Daryl to be a friend of mine; whether or not he'll claim me is up in the air
. I've wheeled with him for the past couple years or so. Talk about a stand-up guy. I've also had the joy of getting to know John Bomar through Daryl as well the past year or so.
You may have seen my hooptie self-destruct this past weekend at SCC
I have an '85 4Runner I built over the past 4 years or so (though it feels like forever...). I did almost all the work myself. It's been a steep learning curve, as this is my first rodeo. Do things different? Sure, but it's been a great experience thus far.
I was born and reared by two great parents in the great city of Hot Springs, Arkansas. You're probably thinking, "Must be nice to be from the same city as Superlift." Thankfully I don't have enough time (or money) to spend a lot of time at the park.
I graduated from the University of Arkansas (don't hold it against me...) with a BS in Agricultural Systems Technology Management this past May.
I live about 5 minutes walking from UofM in a small house with a roommate.
So now that I've put out my whole life story, I'd like to say thanks for your hospitality this past weekend. I wish I had taken more time to meet more of you guys. I was busy fixing my junk on Friday and then breaking it on Saturday.
I'm pretty busy with school and work, but I'd enjoy meeting or helping you guys. My junk is 3.5 hours away, so withdrawal is bound to happen.
Happy trails!
Jordan
