Hello all,
New to the group and new to LC. Just purchased a 2007 and just want to get my feet wet. Looking for local ideas to acclimate myself to the LC a bit prior to heading to Sedona in a few weeks. In my life BM (before marriage) my life revolved around Glamis, Dummont and Pismo with some time in Hesperia, so when we go to Sedona or Death Valley, I convinced my wife to rent a jeep. So, normally we would rent a jeep in Sedona, usually 3 days, but if memory serves me, the trails are not too technical (except for a short portion of Broken Arrow) where I don't think I would take my new baby, risk/reward not worth it, so we might cut the rental from 3 days down to one. But like I said, I just want to get the feel for the LC before I head out the AZ. I was thinking either up above Silverwood, Green Valley or Holcomb, but I would love some local suggestions. Thanks.

Cleghorn is another local trail to try. It's mostly an easy to moderate trail with challenging spots that have bypasses to get you around them if you feel they're too much. The 100 series are very capable in stock form. A few years back, when @sdnative had a 100, we went up Gold Mountain in Big Bear. If memory serves me correctly the main/only "offroad" mod he had was sliders.

I was lifted about 2" as well and made contact with the underside a couple times. That was also the run that I tore a CV boot. Not sure I would take a stock 100 on GM unless you don't mind some bumper damage and dragging over some of the ledges.

I did just run Broken Arrow in Sedona in the 200. It was pretty much stock except for 33" tires. Still had the running boards. It was a bit of a white knuckle experience as I was trying to get through without any contact whatsoever. I did end up very lightly scratching the rear bumper and dinged the PS running board coming down the steps.

The LC in general is pretty capable right out of the box.

Thanks for the tips. Probably will take a quick drive up Cleghorn on Sat. Just want to get a feel for the traction control.

With the specs in your sig line you'll be fine... oh and welcome to the group :flipoff2:

@bdobyns +1 on what FJRanger said. I was just up in Sedona last month for the first time. Our 100s are similarly spec'ed - you should have zero issues running the trails there. Only used my lockers for fun on a couple spots.

Alright, I have ridden bikes, quads, sand rails, jeeps and all types of trucks off road, I was so impressed by everything my LC offered today--smooth and comfy ride getting to the trail, smooth and comfy on the trail, able to handle, with ease, all that we wanted to do (at 6000#), not sure if it is worth the price new, but "broken in" is a no brainer.

Glad you had a good time and enjoyed the LC - congrats on the new rig.

If you have any plans to upgrade your wheels to something else, please allow me to purchase your stock wheels from you - I'm looking for a set!

Just dropped a few dimes on the rear bumper. New wheels would be nice, maybe with a bead locks, but there are other things I would like to do: replace the carpet, new head unit, would like to see about removing the cd changer and see if I could fit a side band in that slot, new leather would be nice....and I thought she just had a drinking problem, she wants cosmetic surgery too (not my wife, the rig).

With the new bumper, that would actually give me room for a second spare-one underneath and one on the back. Advisable or no? Will also have a hitch available in a couple of weeks.

Wife, daughter & boy friend want to go for a picnic in Holcomb Valley this weekend. When we got first got married, I took her to Glamis, once, she said it reminded her of the "Road Warrior" with all the engine blocks burning at Competition Hill, people drunk and being dragged around by quads, and she basically said no to off roading, hopefully this will change her mind.
