New to Forum Had a Question About Transfer Case and Rear Dif

Hey everybody whats up, so here is my problem, me and a couple of buddies were out wheelin yesterday in the SD area mountains when it started to pour down rain, we were on a tight one lane trail trying to get out, our GPS showed that the trail went through, but due to the current weather that we have had there was a big trench in the trail that we couldnt get through or around, so we had to turn around. By the time we got half way up the trail the mud was too thick and we couldnt go anywhere. So i locked my rear up and then i put my front end in low lock, all my gauges read good, but when it came time to crawl all my wheels were spinning independently like the truck wasnt locked at all, at a few points one tire would be spinning and the other would be at a stand still. I have only had this truck for 4 months, and just started taking it off road. Any help would be appreciated.

The stock e-locker won't engage immediatly, but it should after driving a short distance. Did you have mud tires on?

Its a stock 6 speed with all terrain tires, i know that it wont engage until you drive i think the manual said 20 ft or so, but i had enough distance to do that i know they should have been locked, i had locked them earlier, but didnt put any real stress on the vehicle. I just dont know what could have happened, anyways needless to say the truck is still stuck in the mud and isnt going anywhere until it dries up, im hoping that it will still drive i dont really know what damage if any was done to it. I just dont know why they would be slipping like that.

Probably would have done better unlocking the rear dif and just using the Atracks.

probably, I just hope that i didnt do any damage to the rear Diff, im going back to the truck tomorrow to see if its dried up enough to get it out, next upgrade will definately be tires and a front bumper with a winch, seems the FJ doesnt like the mud too much.

i had know truble with my stock dunlops in mud up to the frame just left the a-trac on did great.

Your truck should be fine. The first mod on the FJC should be more aggressive tires! The stockers are pretty much useless. The FJC loves mud! Learn how to use your ATrac and you should be able to go through pretty much anything. I've done rock crawls with the stock tires and ATrac without an issue.

I went back today and it was dry enough to dig out and get it back, everything looks ok on the truck other then the usual scratches you get, and it drove fine, next paycheck im getting some more aggressive tires, and i need to order the ATrac switch i dont even have it installed yet. Luckily the truck was fine.
