Christmas came early for me..

This will replace my Syncrowave 250.

I have not tried it out yet, but I figure I'll get to in about a month when I get around to hooking up the water cooler and torch....

I wonder if my wife will let me sleep with it tonight.

i don't forsee a problem with that since she won't be sleeping with you tonite! :flipoff2:

How did you know Georg? I had to bring in the house since was sitting in the cold UPS truck...

I just put a 6-50P plug on it and powered it up.

Only 432 hours of arc time and 178,703 arc starts. Not even broken in yet...

Nice! I like blue welders!

What are the specs on that thing and what do you use for a power source. Our old, old TIG was pretty wimpy when it came to anything more than very thinwall aluminum irrigation pipe. Tried to fix our aluminum stock trailer and it kinda just whimpered...

what's wrong with the syncro ?
Let us know what benefits you find over the transformer please !
Since I bought my syncro this summer I've had at least four people tell me they've never seen a welder that big. I'm afraid the inverters wouldn't qualify for my ego boosting purpose

denis, do you have a Syncrowave 250? If you do, what kind of current does it draw. For simplicity's sake, what size breaker is on the circuit? I'd love to have one, not that I need anything with that kind of performance, but I'd still buy one if the right one fell my way and see if my wife noticed it since I have two Millers already. Hey, could work.

I have a late 90s syncro 375 which was an updated european version of the syncro 300. I'm running it on 460V on a 63A breaker, the mains power tripped a couple of times at startup. Everytime it occured the bench grinder was freewheeling and might have been backfeeding current into the circuit, that and the single phase current pike may not have been to the main differential breaker's taste, I dunno. It never occured during welding up to 75% of the max amp. rating. My power supply is 18kW and the welder itself is 22-ish IIRC so I'm not even sure I could actually use it at full blast which is 380A. The max current draw is supposed to be like 70A IIRC. I'm not sure about the startup pike, but I have the feeling it's a lot better than say an electric motor's. Maybe a big condenser in line on the power line could solve it anyway ? I'm afraid I'm not very helpful here.

Nothing wrong with the syncrowave 250. I have the PC-300 pulse module for it, but have not messed with it much.
It runs on a 70 amp (230v) breaker without any issues.
It welds great, but the inverter based Dynasty should have a better (smoother) output.

Faster switching IGBT (isolated gate bipolar transistors) will provide much smoother AC and DC output over the transistor based welders. The real advantage will be on AC welding (aluminum). Dynasty 300DX will allow you to set the AC frequency up to 250hz and uses a modified square wave arc resulting in using the high frequency only to start the arc. Also has more adjustability for settings (pulse, arc balance, etc.,). It draws 68 amps (230v) at full output.

I will do some comparison between the two in the next couple of weeks.

That's a beautiful thing!
I'm keeping my eyes open for an inverter unit--I'll probably have to settle for 200 amps (price wise).
You know you're going to love it. What did you get for your wife?

Did you ever get a chance to do much work with the 300 DX? I just picked up a Dynasty 200 DX to learn to TIG.

Not yet. I have it sitting in the shop. I'm sure I'll fire it up soon.

Dynasty 200DX is a very nice machine. You got a great TIG welder.

Congrats!!

That is a hella unit.
Top O da heap.

I am gonna be lucky if I can afford a Diversion 165 by christmas.
it is only line 120 hz. But I do fine with our syncrowave at 60hz.

All in All I am sure I am gonna be happy.

And I know beyond a shadow of a doubt you will be happy with
your Dynasty.

Grats again and enjoy.

I have a friend that owns a local fab shop. I was there one day picking up some steel and he was working on something with his Dynasty. Up until that point I had never saw TIG in action. I was definitely 'wowed' at the amount of control he had with that unit. I ordered one later that afternoon. I hope to learn to use it soon.
