I have a stock 60 with 51,000 original miles. My rear springs are basically flat, so I need to replace them. I would like to stay at stock height, but can't seem to find stock replacement springs that don't cost a small fortune. So, I either buy a 2 1/2" lift or I was wondering about re-arching my existing springs... Does anyone have any experience with re-arching their springs? Good, bad, no clue?

Thanks for the advice.

Yes. I had my springs re-arched last year. Had a local spring shop do it. $700 in and out the door in one day, re-arched with new bushings and U-bolts. Gained about 2" lift front and rear. Rears went back to flat after one camping trip, fronts didn't change much (all the weight was in the back).
The MUD consensus seems to be that re-arching my work and it may last, but then again it may not. You have no way to really know for sure until you spend the money and do it. I would not say it is worth the trouble.
I went with OME this year and it is a major improvement in ride over both the flat and re-arched stockers. Spend the money, it's worth it.

I looked for a while to find someone who offered stock springs. I too want to keep it at stock height, my '82 FJ60 is my daily driver. Man-A-Fre has them - here is the link:

MAF Safari Individual Suspension Leaf Springs

I plan on getting them and putting them on after my next trip overseas. Good luck.

Does anyone have these installed? its exactly what I'm after. However, if they don't retain their arc i would be sad. i assume these are as good a quality as any other MAF product.

I rearched about 6 years ago, and still holding perfect.,stiff though. The problem with a rearch is it will go flat again unless you add a leaf. The add a leaf adds considerable stiffness.

Thanks for the responses. I was considering OME but I wanted to keep it close to stock height... Has anyone used the Man-A-Fre stock springs and how do you like them? I would be curious to see if anyone could compare them to a set of 2.5" OME springs in terms of ride quality? My rig tends to be a pavement queen with a lot of time in the snow. This fall I am planning a few trips to the Eastern Sierra to do some camping/exploring.

Check out CCOT

They used to offer fj60 stock-ish springs. like 1.5" over stock at the most. decent springs if you don't regularly carry tons of weight in the cruiser or wheel very hard. I'm not sure if they still off them, though.
