Well, after owning many Toyota’s ( ‘88 4Runner, ‘89 Supra, ‘94 LC, ‘00 Corolla, ‘01 Corolla, ‘12 4Runner, ‘13 Tacoma, and a ‘14 Sienna), which we traded in the Sienna and tested the waters on a used 2018 Chevy Traverse for 2 years (28k-36k miles)….we came right back to Toyota. Don’t get me wrong, the Traverse had some nice features (especially if you had a car seat and needed to use the 3rd row too, and mpg was great too (also we don’t tow)… but I’m glad I had a factory warranty up to 36kmiles and 3 years. Had to have the shifter mechanism replaced at 30k and I’m pretty sure the torque converter was starting to slip at 35k. Their solution was to change out the tranny fluid and go from there. I just imagined myself seeing the dealer every 10k miles for something.
Anyway, enough about my testing the non-Toyota waters. We traded that for a Blizzard Pearl Tree (2017 Platinum with 30k miles on it). Price was a bit steep, but it was 1owner and got all the records from Toyota.com which looked great.
Initial Purchase look:
Beside some initial purchases like 3D Maxpider contoured floor mats throughout (which I highly recommend and have used on our last 3 vehicles) and LED interior lights throughout, the biggest thing that had to go were the wheels. The offset was going to throw things up the side like no other, and I (and the wife..since it’s more hers) weren’t found of the look.
So off to Craigslist and FB Market place where I think I got lucky and found a set of (5) Rock Warrior rims. And while they included BFG KO2 tires… I didn’t want the wife driving around on them when it came winter time. So another deal on 5 basically new Jeep Rubicon BFG KO2 285/70/R17s popped up and off to discount tire for the wheel/tire/TPMS shuffle. End result is we are happy as the tires are tucked in more and looks great, along with brand new C load rated tires (from the P tires the original rims had).
Now we are set (except need to sell the rims and tires to recoup some costs) .
She has her big pearl tree, and I have my ‘13 GX460 (aka The Batmobile to all the kids and teachers at daycare)
Also, I’m glad I can spend twice as much time on ih8Mud now.
