... the discount deal was solid for me and immediate gratification.
You are likely to be fine, they are good with relatively close to stock setups. It is once you move past that, is where the problems start.
...the reason I wont go back to Discount without a gun in my back and dragging my heels is THAT store. ...
X2, my last visit was comical. I had the 37"s and Nitto 295's, one of the Nittos wasn't holding air, had a nail close to the sidewall, switched to the 37" tires. Arrived at discount, rolled the offending tire into the showroom and waited for one of their "professionals".
They get to me, I hand him the cert and say, the air leaks out of this tire and I would prefer it would stay in.... Does it have a flat?... It doesn't look like it, but you are the pro?
He closely examines the tire and says, we cant repair this tire... Why not?... The wrong rim, what brand is it?... Lexus, what is wrong with it?... Too narrow for the tire, who mounted it (he is holding the cert!)... It was mounted new at this store... Well someone screwed up, it is illegal for us to work on that tire with that narrow of a rim, you have to buy new rims for us to service it... Really, what size rims would you recommend?... At least 8-9"... See the designation on the rim that says 16x8JJ what does that mean?... It is just a mold mark, Lexus never made an 8" wide rim... Really, do you have a tape measure?... It doesn't matter, can't get an accurate measurement unless the tire is unmounted... Can you recommend a shop who can remove the tire so we can measure it?
He goes to the PC, to show me my error. Brings up the Nitto specs, the 8" rim is in the spec for the tire and is the size rim they used to measure for the published specs.
We go back to the tire, he says, that is a big tire, what do you run it on... A Lexus, but I would prefer that it held air, is that something you can help me with?... It doesn't matter, you can mount that big of a tire on a Lexus... Like that one (pointing at my rig, just outside the window, with 37" tires), don't you have something that you know something about that you could be working on, like a Taurus?

Predictably, it went even more down hill from there, the manager got involved, etc. After much arguing the ended up putting a new tire on my "narrow" rim, but didn't need the drama.
They are inconsistent, the luck of the draw, sometimes no problem, done. Other times they want to hard sell, argue.

In my experience they almost always good at the time of sale. It is when you come back for service that the "fun" starts. Especially if the rig has been wheeled, isn't a stock setup, etc.
