I think I full length version would look better....

I just ordered this rack from Baja Rack and am waiting for it to be delivered next week. It is due out any day. I can not wait. My factory rack has been removed. Next off is the factory spoiler. Then the JD Bling spoiler... Oh forgot. The price will be $490.

Did you order a full rack or is like the one in the picture?

Did you get gutter mounts from them also?

I ordered the one in the picture. It comes with six gutter mounts and a cargo net for $490. It is a brand new model and should have been announced by now. I sent them an email and they told me about the new 80 series rack. Can't wait.

Thanks,
I'm interested in a full rack, I guess I can give them a call and ask. Let us know how it performs.

I have emailed Baja to see if a group buy discount is possible. I'll post their response here shortly...

For now, PM me if you are interested. Please indicate your country and whether you're interested in a short rack as pictured above, or a full length version. Also, what accessories you'd likely purchase. If I can compile an interest list, they may apply a larger discount. :)

Have you got a model name/number? From their website, I see the Mule (39" wide x 48" long), the MegaMule (48" wide x 68" long), and the EXP (48" wide x 84" long). I believe the one in the pictures above is the MegaMule. This would be my first choice. Can you confirm this is what you ordered?

I asked about a group buy before and sent another email to my contact. We can wait and see. Shipping is extra.

I have had mine for three weeks now. I like the fact that it was designed for the 80 series specifically and that the rack does not cover the sunroof. I mainly use it for a spare tire carrier and I have a solar panel underneath for keeping the aux battery charged.

When talking with the engineers this rack is preferable because of the extra louvers underneath that cut wind noise. According to Baja Rack, the Mule and Mega Mule are quite noisy on 80s compared to this rack. The rack is as light as it can be (51 pounds) before becoming too flimsy. I have not field tested it yet as I am sill dealing with a fuel tank issue. But it has defiantly changed the look of the vehicle.

If i remember correctly the dimensions are 48 x 64 x 6 which makes the unit stop just before the sunroof and slightly lower (shallower) than the mega mule. It is designed to be installed over the factory roof racks without removing them; meaning it will clear them. I am lucky to never have had the factory roof rack so I would have liked to have mine mounted a bit lower though.

I purchased the spare tire mount, Hi-Jack mount and Ax\Shovel mount for the rack as well ~ $700 shipped to Az. It comes with six gutter mounts and a cargo net as standard and the necessary bolts to assemble it and mount it to the gutter.

Pictures are below.

Great work Finderscuba! I ordered mine last week and it's on it's way.

Wow, just when I thought I had settled on a RTT capable rack. One question: Are these made in the US?

Nice looking rack. Wonder what's the load limit on this rack?
