Picked it up from Kina's today. It's a 3 hour drive home, "it's an 80 thing, I get it"!
Truck runs real good for being 15 years old and 189K.
Some issues need to be looked at. Need a drivers mirror, a pass side rear seatbelt, some rust on the drivers door, hood, rear hatch, and pass side wheel well.
Engine looks remarkably clean. Under side doesn't have any oil leaking. Knuckles are dry.
I have the title which he got when he transfered it to NH registration. This was done in 2006, only 1500 more miles on it since then. He has a weekend place in Madison and I think he just used it for dump runs.
Small exhaust leak at one of the joints, think it's just the gasket.
Springs are the 851's and 860's.

Oh yea, battery was dead, so I have to get one tomorrow. Had to jump it everytime we stopped on the way home.

Nice Lane, go get yourself a brush kit for the alternator, 27370-75060. It's like $20.00 and I'd bet a beer they need to be changed out. The last three alternators that I opened up they were shot. Real easy to do also.

I love the period-correct cell phone on the console

So did you get rid of the 4Runner or is that still going to stick around too?

was thinking the same thing:D I knew some guys in northern Maine that used them all the way up to when they switched to digital, those suckers are strong and transmit a receive a hell of alot farther then today's phones because of the lack of cell towers back in the day

4Runner stays for Ian to drive until Sept. when he leaves for school. Then it goes up for sale.
Picked up a new battery and it fires right up.

Passed inspection today. They "overlooked" an exhaust leak that I'll need to fix before I take it back in August. Going to need to replace the 2 into 1 pipe off the manifold. It has a pinhole at the junction where the 2 pipes go into the single. (exhausts are pretty pricey on these things!) They said it was in really good shape. I'm happy!

Lane, that spot leaks on all of them, just weld it shut, I've done a few now.

Did you pull the pipe or do it on the vehicle?

pulled the pipe. You need to get to both sides of that thing. I usually split the pipe between the cats.

It can turn into a big job pretty easily so tread lightly.
Yea, I can see the bolts breaking in my dreams! Need to hit it with the PBB every night for
a week to loosen them up.

What is this switch?
Pushed it and now the truck won't start! I don't think it's
related but?

How about this? What should go here?

Looks like the power steering cooler lines. Mine actually just started to drip a little from a split. I am waiting for a small tranny cooler to arrive, hopefully monday. Usually, at least on mine, what was there was a few loops that act as the cooler. While you are poking around, and if your ps lines look like that.... how's the rear heater lines? I'll be doing mine very soon......:)
