Greg. did i miss something? are you wanting to sell that h55?

The guy who I believe you are referring to is named David Carpenter(CARP on Mud). I know he works for Michelin down in greenville/spartanburg. He drives that silver 60 that was at GSMTR. Not sure what he does for them though.

No you didn't, neither the H55 or FJ55 are for sale. If I come across an ideal 62 or 60 I swap the drivetrains. otherwise I will just store the 55 in one of the barns at the farm.

My mistake I had thought you had told me at the meeting that you wanted to put the 5speed in a 62 and sell the 55. Oh well it was worth a shot :D

Thats what I thought but then I saw that post...I was confused as Hell...

Hey Hijackers ;p

So this is going to be a primary off-roading rig, but not overly built. Yet I want to use it for the expidtion trips we do which usually involves 5+ hour drives it seems.

Could I get away with some LTB's? JC whitney has 10% off and free shipping right now. I still like the KM2s. whitney has the KM but not in any good sizes and they are much more expensive than they should be.

As soon as I get the registration paperwork an aussie locker, Long leaf AALs, and shackles are on their way. That and a tube bender.

LTB's hook, but they wear crazy fast. When i worked @ 4WP I saw a Cherokee wear them out in 10K!! No BS. That was with open diffs too, I imagine a locker would have made that worse.

What size tire are you looking for?

I'm looking for some 33x10.5 tires. This rig will only be used for off-roading but I want to be able to drive the 4+ hours it seems like all of our trips are too with those tires. So if the LTB's wear that quick they are probably not a good option as it seems like I'm so far away from everything except Uwharrie.

I loved my OTR Treadwright reatreads but I would need to get a 16 inch wheel more money, and they were a bit short measuring in at 32 which isn't a big deal I guess. But they had excellent grip on the rocks and mud.

I'll check w/ my Father-In-Law tomorrow on some BFG M/Ts - let you know a price when I hear back, likely tomorrow but I have a crazy work day.

I am in no hurry. I still do not even have a title for this thing. Tempted to drive it with my old land cruiser plates...yes officer this is a 71 Land Cruiser....toyota was way ahead of its time.

I got some more work done tonight. I adjusted the rear drums about 20 clicks off on the drivers side and 30 on the passenger. So I finally have a pedal and it stops pretty well.

I also fixed the park brake. It was just disconnected on one side. To easy.

Did a bit more detailing here and there.

Played around and got all of the windows to work and even the passenger side power mirror...no luck on the drivers though..no big deal.

Tested the High 4 button and it works...I read things about the vaccume actuator failing.

Now onto the thing bleeding all over the floor. I am pretty sure I fixed the tranny leak. Every single pan bolt was a turn lose. Toyota is brilliant. They made a whole in every spot in the skid plate so you could get to the bolts...love it.

I found a few lose bolts in the oil pan but don't think that is going to fix all of those leaks. Still thinking there is a leaky rear main. But I should be WAY better off than I was.

Did you have problems with the title? Everytime I've been to DMV, I've gotten the title and the plate in the same trip...

The title issues was with the Previous owner. He never put it in his name and it was a PA title. So he had to go thru everything. He finally got it submitted on the 6th but I don't think he will get it by this Wednesday so he can get it to me by Friday and then I can go and get it registered. It may happen but unlikely. So I should have it on the road in about 2 weeks.

I woke up this morning and my tranny leak is completely gone...HURRAY:bounce: but my engine oil leak is even worse. When I clean the engine off in a couple of weeks I will know more of where it leaking from.

Brian....how much did it run to have your exhaust redone..I have to factor in a new O2 sensor or two but I'm thinking I will get a whole new exhaust done as this one is hard welded to the frame in a couple spots and they did a pretty shotty job..not to mention the 2 exhaust leaks at the headers where they connect.

Mine wasn't too expensive (~200), I can get you exacts later, but my problem with it is I told them to go up to the header (what I meant was the manifold) so they stopped too short, and welded it to the rusty pipe going to the exhaust manifold. I wasn't too happy, but took it as my fault to my wording. I also just got a standard run of the mill muffler, nothing special. Talk to Jon, he just got his done, and it sounds great (of course he's got a 2F also) with the flowmaster...

Cool,

I'm going to use the Muffler that is on there as well as the cats. I don't care about the sound. I just need new pipes that aren't rusted and are on real hangers so they can flex if I hit it. That and I need it routed a bit better than what the last person. Ohh and of course the HUGE exhuast leaks comming out just off of the heads. I think it would be fine with new dounuts but I might as well get it all redone.

There is a place in Nam that i have always used. Kens muffler is the name, Mike is the guy that does all the work for me. Really good guy, been doing it for about 20 years that i can remember now.
