I'll be installing these bad boys tomorrow. Got them from our brothers down under at StealthtechMildura - https://shop.stealthtech.com.au/. Speakers are Focal Auditor ACX 165 S.

They are for the rear doors.

Please post up install details afterward, those look nice.
Will do.

I'll add that I have been emailing Michael Cory at the company about the install and he has been very responsive and helpful. He recommended the Focal speakers over the Alpine R-series for their fuller sound.

As for the Focal speakers, the backing plate (or base plate) are attached to the speaker grills for shipping and must be separated. The speakers come with 8 self-tapping screws. I placed the backing plate on the speaker pod to use it as a template, marked the 4 holes with a marker, and drilled small pilot holes. It was strange to drill into fresh vinyl, but it is necessary. After that, it was just a matter of lining up the speakers and securing them into the backing plate and onto the speaker pods.

I'll show how I install them into my US-spec 80. Apparently the Oz-spec 80s have a factory pocket or storage area and there are 3 pre-drilled holes can be used. My truck has no such holes so more drilling will be required. Micheal stated in his email that he used "19mm mushroom head screws in the centre section and 13mm around the edge. About 10 screws total...". More to come.

FYI, The speaker pods are designed to fit 6.5" speakers.
My speaker dimensions (from manufacturer) are:
Mounting plate: 6.5" (167mm)
Speaker diameter (sound producing area--minus the mounting area): 5.7" (145mm)
Speaker depth: 1.9" (48.5mm)

Here's how I installed the speaker pods:

1) I used the opposite speaker pods as a template and traced it on the back of the door cards.
2) I taped the appropriate speaker pod into position. When positioning the speaker pod, make sure you leave enough space at the leading edge so you can close the door. Mine was flush up against the plastic trim that covers the front seat belts.
3) I used a total of 13 screws per speaker pod. Probably overkill. The 3 center screws are 4.8mm x 19mm. The 10 outer screws are 4.8mm x 13mm.
4) Installed. Speaker wire were soldered to the speakers and I used the Wago 221-2411 inline connectors to connect them to the car for easy removal of the door card if needed. FYI, from the car, the blue wire is positive and the gray wire is negative.

The sound from the speakers are a notable improvement over the 4.5" Pioneers I had back there. I feel that the upgrade was worth it. Hope this helps.

Thanks for sharing, very similar process to installing the front ones. I was recommended the same from them, opted for the shallow mount Focal flax evos to be safe (54.5mm depth) but fairly confident that the deeper ones (70+mm) would fit too, at least in the front. Any plans to add an amp at some point?

I agree with you. I feel that the standard non-S version of the Focal speakers will fit.

I would love to add front speaker pods, but I have the U.S.-spec 80 and there is a cargo pocket where the non-U.S. spec front speaker goes.

No plans to add an amp at this time, but I'll consider it. Do you recommend a particular amp?

Looked at a few options but have to check possible install locations first. I'm in no rush either though.
