You can use the Icon shin guard to protect the bottom portion of the shock along with the piston shaft due to the design of this particular product. It is a simple bolt on, and it is made out of stainless steel so no rust or corrosion to worry about.

Another couple of inches would be even better. (whoops..did I just say that?)

Does anyone have any long term opinions on the RadFlos? I'm looking for the most COMFORTABLE and controlled on road ride.
Bilsteins are a little too stiff for me.
Thanks,
Anthony

Im curious as well. Am installing the Radflo rears tomorrow. The front Radflo coilovers have been going strong for 2 years. <knock on wood>

Two years and 60,000 miles later and I am still a very happy camper. Still performing as well as the day I fitted them and believe me I have given them one hell of a workout. You can fit them with confidence. Good people too.

I don't need a lift. You fitted the 2.5" setup without adjustability right?
Can you describe the on road ride a little compared to past experience please.

Hmmm, not sure what you mean by "without adjustablity". Coilovers by definition are adjustable. I am assuming you mean without remote reservoirs?

If so then Yes. I wanted to keep things as simple as poss. One less thing to worry about. I have 2.5 coilovers without remote reservoirs on front and 2.5 shocks on back -with factory stock springs (I added airbags for when I want to tow or carry a heavy load) The 16" Radflo coilovers provide a lift of between 50mm and 80mm depending on how far you adjust the preload on the coilovers. With zero preload they provide a level ride and a 50mm lift to front and maybe 20mm to the back. I dislike the bug stance of the stock ride and so getting a level ride was a priority. So was handling.

I also wanted to preserve the plush ride in the back so didnt change the rear springs. Coilrite Air bags give me the same perfomance benefits as heavier springs when I want it and not the harsh suspension when I don't (the major drawback of heavier springs).

The radflo coilovers and shocks make a huge handling difference in terms of sure footing on and off-road, body roll negation and steering responsiveness. The ridiculous nose plant under heavy braking is gone.

I went with 700 lb/ft coils because I intend fitting a steel bar. Even so the ride is still very very smooth. I dont think the 600 lb/ft coils make a lot of sense on a heavy rig like a cruiser and to my mind are just too light. However, they will certainly help keep your current ride height if that's what you want and 14inch coils will also be what you will probably need if you don't want a lift. Mine are 16" (see pic)

My best suggestion is you discuss what you are after directly with the manuacturer and owner Glen at Radflo. Get them to tailor the build to your exact requirements - another one of the outstanding advantages of dealing with Radflo.

LCKID,
That's so funny I was going to message you about whcih ones you ended up buying. There are three levels. 2", 2.5" and 2.5" with adjustable rebound.

All of them have the option of extended length for raising the truck and also a remote reserve. Which ones did you get?

I do not want to raise the truck. It's for long weekend highway trips up to the mountains for skiing. It needs to be uber comforatable and handle well.

I have the extended 2.5"

Anyone running 16" 600lb Radflos with weight (bullbar, winch etc.) up front? Any long term opinions? 700lb springs needed/required with that type of weight or will 600lb versions do fine?

Nice review. I have the icon non res fronts and the piggy back 2.5 rears. I too like keeping it as simple as possible. I originally had the ubiquitous ome rears and will remark that the icons ride plusher. Generally not a fan of heim joints but understand that these are "race" shocks.

I'd love a highly technical review comparing both the rads and icons. Less of this it feels so good to me stuff.

I had 600 with a heavy TJM bullbar and it was not enough. I went and bought the 16 inch, 700 pound Eibach's from MetalTech to work everything out.

Glen at Radflo said 600# springs would be wholly insufficient for the weight of a bullbar and winch, so 700# springs are necessary if running a bar and winch.
