Took the truck to Slee to have the rack replaced earlier this week, wife picks up the truck (I am unfortunately 1200 miles away in Oregon) and the truck drives great.

Today take truck to Groove Toyota to get an alignment like Slee recommended, (didn't recommend Groove, just the alignment).

Wife picks up the truck and they commented that if the wheel is turned all the way to the left and back to center the wheels are straight, if it is turned all the way to the right and back to the wheels being straight the steering wheel is off to the right at about 1 o'clock.

So, the questions are:
-is this an alignment issue or a steering rack issue
-does something with the alignment need to be adjusted or does the steering wheel just need to be adjusted
-if the steering wheel is adjusted, wont it just send the problem to the other side

Groove says steering rack, and can't get through to Slee to see what they say.

Thoughts? Appreciate any help or comments in advance.

Oh and I am preparing to drive from Denver to Oregon Saturday morning, so it would be great to address this.

Not sure but it sounds to me like an analysis problem at the dealer. Unless your new rack is super sloppy or the flex coupler is super sloppy I just don't see how that could happen. If either was true the truck would drive like s***.

I would have her drive it back to Slee and just ask a tech to take a quick drive and see what they think.

My wild guess is that everything is fine.

Thanks for the reply. Talked to Ben at Slee and he says it doesn't make sense, but will shoot to take it back up there and have them take a gander at it to see what they think.

Sounds like your problem is taking it to the dealer. In my opinion, the best way to find a good alignment shop is to look up some local race/autocross clubs and see where they like to get their cars setup.

I would rather trust a shop who have lots of experience setting up race suspensions, versus the guy working on Camrys.

I agree. Surprised they didn't send you to Japanese Auto... which is the local favorite.

I need an alignment after replacing my half-shafts. Can anyone recommend a good place in south Orange County? Don't really want to go to the local Stealership (Power Toyota).

If you're willing to make the drive to San Diego, i've used Clarence Brown Alignment multiple times and am very happy with the service.

Thanks!
