I just sold my 93 80 w/ 171k and got a green 99 100 w/ 180k. The 80 was awesome (well, you know) but my 100 is better in almost every way and I have very few regrets so far. My 80 wasn't locked, had leaks galore, and had annoying problems like sticky door locks, power seat/antenna issues, and poor a/c performance. I was constantly battling maintenance but it was also outfitted pretty well, was tough as nails, and had a clean body. The styling is, arguably, cooler on the 80 as well but I miss the suspension on the 80 the most. The straight axle up front felt so sturdy on and off road. Haven't upgraded the 100 yet to OME so we'll see how much better the IFS gets when I pull the trigger on that. Right now, the soft, stock suspension on my 100 feels kind of "Un-Land Cruiser" like. But, on my 100, everything works, it is leak free, and it is pretty much dialed in maintenance-wise. The A/C is WAY better and the 2UZ gets better gas mileage while also getting WAY better power than the 1FZ. The interior is more refined, comfortable, luxurious, and it has nice features like heated seats and several accessible cup holders. 90% of time I am daily driving so I don't miss the 80 that much but I do, however, feel like I am starting over with the 100 as an off roader compared to my 80. You are, for sure, going to lose off road capability if you move to the stock 100 (especially since your 80 is triple locked and built) but it's kinda fun to start fresh with the newer model :) Good luck!

You pretty much hit on all the reasons why I wanted a 100 eventually which are probably the same reasons anyone upgrades from a 80. Yes it would be great to keep the 80 and get a 100 but I am middle class :D I have money saved up but not that desperate to have two LC's with only 1 car garage hehe

I should find out if its a done deal in a week or two at most and if it is I'll have pics up of course

Interesting. Flame me, but I agree the 80 has really nice lines..has always looked truckier and tougher to me. Even a built 100 never looks as aggressive to me as a built 80. But I am experiencing a growing love and respect for my 100 the more I do with it and drive it. When we first bought it, I was nervous to do anything with it....just felt too soft and cushy to be an off road or towing truck. My 1989 4wd Toyota pickup felt like a beast and you knew from the moment you got in that it could go through anything... But the 100 doesn't feel that way for me...until I started getting off the beaten path. Did some gentle off roading at first to get a feel for it. Recently was driving around some land on a rainy day and was exiting to the road via a deep and steep ditch. Honestly thought I was being stupid to try to climb through this ditch and up onto the road but I wanted to see what the trucks limits were so I slowly plowed through. First tried it in just AWD, then got stuck and locked center diff. Still couldn't quite pull out so I locked the rear and it walked right out without so much as a tire spin or groan. That one moment last week told me a lot about my truck and I think just learning it's limits is having a profound influence on how "capable" my truck "feels". This might be obvious to all of you, but for me it was eye opening that this cushy "softie" "suv" is so capable.
