Hello all. First, I'd like to thank all of you for the incredible wealth of knowledge on this site. I've been looking up stuff for a while now and decided to join. A bit about myself... I've had my 73 fj40 for 25 years (first vehicle) it has been off the road since 2000 and I've finally got some space to do a bit of a restore on her. I'll get pics later. Alas, when I was a young pup, I did the 350 swap with auto and p/s so I hope the purists don't hate me too much. Anyway, to my point. I have a tub from 68-72 (not quite sure the exact year) that I've been carting around for 20 years or so and I'd like to use my cowl and firewall (better shape) and swap the other tub onto my cruiser. Does anyone know of a good place (inexpensive) to get the tub media blasted here preferably close to Nanaimo? Thanks in advance.

Welcome! Glad you are finding some time for your cruiser!

Sorry, I don't know of anywhere to get media blasting done up there, but I'm sure someone will chip in with an idea.

Thanks for the welcome. Ya. Such a wealth of knowledge on here I suspect someone has gone through this on here

Welcome to the club! Someone will Know of something I'm sure.

We will be having a meeting in a couple weeks if you are interested. They usually consist of some beers, a burger, a couple hours of catching up, getting to know one another, bs and a little bit of business at the end . I'll post up more info later in a new thread. Hope to see you there!

Ya. Thanks. I read the info for the meeting post earlier. Depending on time and date, I'd love to get to know a few more LC nuts. I'm afraid I'm quite far from completing my ol fj though. Between kids and work, not a whole hell of a lot of time. Pretty excited to finally start working on the ol gal again. Cheers!

Yo welcome fellow Nanaimoite! We head out there into the back side of Benson most weekends, your welcome to join us, let me know

Thanks. I may take you up on that offer in the summer here. Seems like a good group you've got. People have been welcoming and quite friendly. I would expect no less from cruiser lovers.

Welcome....:flipoff2:

There's a place out in cedar somewhere that does sandblasting, (holden corso ish?)and I believe there's a place in chemainus...I've heard better things about chemainus but I'm way out of the loop.

My ancestors invented copper wire while fighting over a penny, so I tend opt for wire wheel and a bucket of tremclad. ..

No cruiser required for meetings! If you can make it for a beer it would great to meet you! There are usually some member traveling this way, maybe carpooling is an option?

I can probably make the 14th if that's still the plan. Just gonna run it by the boss later, first. What time does the meeting start?

Ya I agree, watch out for Jeep people...

oh and if youre still looking "blast it" in victoria charges 1.10 per minute for do it yourself sandblasting. 1.20 for them to do it

Who is this, Blast it? Can they do any media, or are they just sand? How expensive is their
media?

Looks good, except I suppose there is no facility for a full FJ40 tub by the looks of it. Certainly worth
looking at though for the multitude of little pieces.

Very true, maybe they have something bigger for stuff like that...not "do it yourself" probably if so
