I just bought a military trailer at an auction yesterday with the grand notion of making it into a camping/off road trailer. Searched high and low on the web and haven't seen one exactly like it. It may be as common as a house fly but not sure. Looks like a generator type trailer but I've scoured the trailer top to bottom and front to back an there isn't a number, name, anything anywhere. It's 41 inches inside the fender wells and 6 ft usable bed length. 5 lug 7.5-16" wheels. I will attach a pic in an hour or so. Didn't realize i cant post pics from my phone. In the shop now tinkering/mentally fabricating the trailer. Any help would be great. Whatever the trailer's origins isn't going to affect the plan for it, just curious about type and maybe ballpark of the age.

it says I am over my limit. I only have posted 3 pics and they were in Sept of 2010. Not sure how to post the pic of the trailer. I have been doing forums for a long time and have never had this much difficulty posting a picture.

And just for the record it isnt the pic I am trying to upload that is over the limit by being too large.

New users have a pic limit before they hit 10 posts IIRC.

Hold the Internet up to the trailer so we can see it.

Still won't let me upload. The pic is 120kb and it says I have exceeded my quota by 201.8 kb when I try to upload it.

Email me the pic. I'll post it. Addy sent to your pm box.

Here's a pic of his trailer guys. Looks like a cool flatbed.

Thanks for the info. I believe from other pics it is an m-716. Appears to have been tan before army green. I will take pics of the build-up and will keep posted (if I can actually post pics in the future). Thanks again.

Yep its a M716 generator trailer. Here is a photo of a M716 with the 5 lug rim.

What you can do is make different bodies to bolt to the chassis. Maybe an enclosed box for camping, an open box or stack sides for hauling, etc.

That is a great idea. I was thinking of a singular dedicated purpose (camping and rtt) but it would be a great hauler around the house and farm. Thanks for the suggestion.
