I am looking for a working fuel sending unit for my FJ55. A direct swap would ideal. But any part that might be comparable would also be fine.
If I can't find a unit then knowing the resistance values of the unit would be very helpful.
Regards
Tim

I have heard that a FJ60/62 unit will work.

ALL FJ55 ones are are DISC / NLA

you Cannot simply use any old new land cruiser one

u need a longer FJ40 on , then you cut and re-weld the COAT HANGER ROD to be same length at your original one still in tank

your guage in dash has same Resistance values as a FJ40 one

if you d not cut and shorten ROD to FJ55 Length u WILL RUN OUT of Gas and be stranded ............

i have made this mod many times and its a perfect OEM solution ..............

1. Pre Sept 1972 was 110 ohms empty by 3 ohms full, but with a 7 volt drop.
2. Post Sept 1972 are 120 ohms empty by 17 ohms full.

Thanks.
My old sensor was tossed out with the old tank. Both were badly rusted. I will order one for an fJ40, calculate the correct length and get it installed. Thanks

its gona be hard to get the length correct without a old donor reference one ?

not as simple as sticking a tape measure down the sender hole opening

they need to mount at the exact degree on the 5 -6 tiny machine screws star pattern too

use new oem screws and gasket ONLY

nothing else matters more here too

Last month I ordered a sensor from Ebay. It listed several models that it would fit. Including my FJ. But that doesn't matter because the vendor has not sent the part. So at this point I am assuming it's a write off.
I then went to another vendor and ordered what I expected to be an sensor that if adjusted might work on my FJ55.
the sensor that I got was tested out of the tank. Full Fill position is 127 Ohms. The full empty is 15 Ohms.
Which seems to match the 72 or newer model.
So now my question is how far off would the empty position be because when the position is in the empty position the ohms would be 15 instead of 3 Ohms.
