hello everyone! I am a new member with a little over 315k mi on my 100. I recently installed some HIDs from xenon depot and these light circles above the cutoff have become even more obvious (they were there before with the OEM halogens, but the halogens were so weak that you couldn't really tell). any idea what on earth is causing this and how to fix it?? it's beyond annoying to me (and other drivers too, I'm sure). thanks and hook 'em!

p.s. I don't have any kind of grill guard or front end replacement - those circles are coming from the headlights themselves

That's normal, search "squirrel finders". For some reason these spots were provided for signage illumination in US DOT VOR headlamps. You have to bake the light open to cover the shield to get rid of them.

awesome. thank you so much!!

I did the HID when I first got the lx. I have never been flashed and on dark roads they really do help with the signs!

LX already had projectors...

Are those just HIDs in stock housings? Other than the spots, the cutoff looks good to me...
yep! stock housings - I was surprised by how clean the cutoff was, which was why the spots were bugging me so much

true! now that I know it's a common thing on these vehicles, I have come to accept it and have noticed they do their job pretty well haha

^ not really necessary to specify it's an LX, anyone familiar with their koito projectors and retrofitting HID capsules will recognize the light pattern and the squirrel finders. If you're looking for a good no BS description (with sensible images) on how to ensure your lamps are correctly aligned check out Daniel Stern lighting.com.

I appreciate ya, paddo. I've read some of your comments on headlights on other posts and I just have one question: is the passenger side lowbeam adjustment made by that small white cylinder? I know the driver side has that long screw, but the passenger side does not. Is that cylinder the thing you made a special key for (from a paint can lid)? I cannot seem to adjust the passenger side, no matter how many time I turn that knob...it doesnt help that i dont really have any tools for that awkwardly large screw head.

Here's a photo of ps adjuster knob for an '03 with ghetto adjuster key. The ds also has the same knob, access to it is limited by the battery when it's in situ. For the LX headlamp assembly the one adjuster knob does both low and high beams, you adjust to get low beam vertically aligned and the high follows - or least that's how it is for 'MY 03. HTH
