Hi all, new member here have found some sound advice on here sothought I better join. I purchased a 1993 hzj75 troopy ex Queensland in nz, received it at 76000km and it's immaculate. rust proofed from brand new and services regularly as it was a council vehicle. I'm after a bit of advice on possible mods without losing reliability...do a fair bit of beach driving and some muddy tracks. so far have fitted diff breathers, rear arb locker, 285/75r16 tyres (32.8×11.2 I believe) snorkel shortly but is otherwise stock. back is set up for camping. extreme 4x4 is not the goal but solo capability is. any thoughts on sound mod ideas would be great, cheers. also came with winch and roof rack

76,000 km? That's bareky broken in! You scored, big time!
Mods: big fuel tanks interest you? You might like not having to lug jerries about. Interior storage bins, including overhead? Have a look at some of the Troopie build threads (mine is described in 'Troopie Build', it includes the storage stuff i mentioned). Water reservoir, tow hitch receiver, LED lighting, bigger diameter exhaust, ...
Take your time, sniff about, decide, with deliberation, what suits you. And in the meantime, drive that little beast.

Nice score! In addition to what 61MK+ recommended, I'd suggest going through the entire vehicle and replace any worn (with such low milage there may not be many) parts like seals, gaskets, brake pads, etc. Small accessories such as bigger OEM mirrors, brighter headlights, seat covers, upgraded stereo, etc are convenient while you get to know the Troopy and decide how you want to build it up.

Cheers, I'll definetly take a look, a water resevoir will fedfinetly be something to think about. but as I'm in nz long range fuel tanks aren't really necessary even if your remote it's not nearly far enough to require more than 90l . have you gone for a larger exhaust diameter yourself? what side?

Not sure if you can get them over there, but a pull-pal is essential in sand and mud. I've seen it work on a dirt road in Utah.

Cheers I've slowly been getting through some of the maintenance aspects. but seems to be in excellent condition throughout. I'll be looking at finding bigger mirrors thanks. they are pokey little things aye.

Hello Millzy,
I did get a larger diametre exhaust (stainless), 2 1/2", if i understand correctly the engine's breathing is improved as the pistons don't work as hard to push the exhaust gases out; that should mean some freed-up ponies too. When funds allow i will get a 3" exhaust, but my 1HZ did get a turbo added; without that i don't know if 3" is so necessary.
