My daily driver is a 2000 cruisers ,Japan import, I use it on my lifestyle block of land and for towing my boat .
I have another project 2001 cruiser ,NZ new .It was in a pretty poor state when i got it .It is now running and driving great, except for an annoying ABS fault light . With the trucks stopped and idling in gear ,the abs light flashes ,as soon as you move off it goes out and stays out until the vehicle comes to a complete stop ,then it starts flashing again . I can't find any forums that describe these symptoms.

It has new batteries ,alternator, cam belt and water pump.
New front wheel bearing ,brake rotors and pads ,all round.
New ABS motor on the master cylinder.
L/C 4.2TD 4WD VX WAG
1HD 0205498.
I had a local guy scan it ,it came up with X-431 and C1283 Low 4 position switch.
He didn't have a Toyota scanner ,I unplugged all the wires ,on the hi low selector and cleaned them, but it didn't help.

Any help would be appreciated.

That switch is on the top of the transfer case, toward the rear of the case. You can remove it and clean it with either electronics cleaner or electrical current. Search my name and those keywords, I posted a link to it recently.

It could also be wiring. I just went through a transmission problem which threw the same L4 pickup switch code. In my case, I replaced the wiring harness on the exterior of the transmission and the 2 rear ABS wiring harnesses.

Get techstream on it if you can. Only techstream will be able to read certain chassis codes.
