Hi all,
First post here. I recently purchased a new to me 2005 lx470 and have a couple of questions (I have learned a ton from you all over the past few weeks, but can't seem to find solid answers to some things after doing lots of digging). Thanks so much for any advise offered. It looks like the vehicle was not wheeled in its past, but was from up north and has some minor rust. First off I am having acc garage in Atlanta give it a check over this week, and have noticed a few mechanical issues already:
-4lo won't engage. I have a 3,000 mile warranty on the vehicle that covers the transfer case. Any ideas on what this could be?
-ticking sound from engine comp. guessing this is the seemingly common issue of cracked manifolds. Probably will replace with dt headers if this is the case. Is there any improvement here without doing the full cat back system in addition?

My main question for you all is this:
The vehicle will be used for towing a 18 foot boat and a Polaris ranger- not terribly heavy loads but as it is a '05, it has the integrated hitch in the bumper. I want to get a frame mounted hitch installed, but was planning on using 275/70 duratracs on the factory rim. When the hitch is installed coupled with the area taken up by the integrated hitch- will there be room to fit these in the spare tire location?

Only other concerns are a zerod out tachometer( hoping it is simply dirty or loose wiring harness) and the cup holder inserts are cracked. I have seen people here talking about replacing the entire cup holder unit, but am wondering if the inserts seen on Amazon would work in this case.

Thanks for any and all info you all seem to be full of it.

The ticking could be anthing. Don't start throwing you money around replacing parts. Pay a professional to take a look at it. But it sounds like you bought someone elses problem. Put that warranty to use. Hopefully the warranty is worth something.

Welcome to MUD! Your mechanical and electrical questions may be answered by ACC. On the hitch, why add a new receiver if you're towing just the boat and ORV? What are the trailer weight and tongue weight limits of the integrated hitch?

Absolutely will have ACC check everything out before I do anything, just trying to get an idea of what these could be before hand. I guess my main concern is for safety/stability towing the boat. I'm coming from a crew cab Silverado with a frame mounted hitch, and the boat trailer with that setup would sway some times. Assuming the integrated hitch works with the trailers (500lb tongue weight limit) does a frame mounted hitch have any benefit as far as trailer stability?

I don't really know, but I'll guess that sway control is much more a matter of tongue weight and load type than receiver type. Make sure the trailer tongue weight is at least 10% of the trailer weight. I use an Andersen weight distribution hitch for sway control with my 3500 lb RV trailer and it works great. Anyway, I recommend trying towing with the integrated hitch (and proper trailer loading to get the tongue weight right) before investing in a frame hitch.

ill give that a shot first. Can any one comment on fitting tires on the spare with the integrated bumper hitch? I see lots of posts stating what fits with lc's/lx's with a factory frame mounted hitch, but nothing as far as what fits with this hitch setup.

Might have to get under there and measure the space yourself. The dimensions of the proposed spare can be had in any of a number of on-line tire size calculators. Here's one that shows your proposed size is about 2.2 inches larger diameter than stock.
