HI!!

Firstly, Id like to reintroduce myself on this side of the forum, after an extensive search for a LC200, I just purchased an 08 LX with 84K miles. which is wild, because while I was sitting in my FJ's I would see an LX and say to myself "snobby wannabe" and here I am, sitting in the drivers seat of one, with that shiny "L" just mocking me constantly. But it was just too good a deal to pass up and I regrettably admit, its reallllyyy nice… am I a Lexus person after all?!! maybe Ill remove the "570" and retrofit "Cruiser" to make me feel better. "LX Cruiser" powered by Toyota… much better.

I just sold my 13 Tacoma, and before that it went 00 FJ100 -> 95 FJ80 -> 91 FJ80 -> 82 FJ60 -> 76 FJ40. I currently have a 66 LR SIIA but that is a tale for a different time. I was fairly active on Tacomaworld but figured it was time to head over to the 200 side more specifically the LX (or the dark side as one would call it).

The LX will be used primarily for a DD with occasional trips to the mountain for camping, light trail work, and snowboarding excursions. My Tacoma had a more aggressive set up with icon suspension etc, but decided to keep my LX more moderate (and its not an LC)

I have some preliminary questions for you all as I am on day 3 of ownership and still figuring things out and may have ran into a few issues. Feel free to just say hey, answer a question or two, or just be a voyeur (you lil freak). I’m sure Ill come across additional questions but this is a good intial blast. I really appreciate your time and knowledge!

1) Headlights

a) does it have DRL? if so mine doesn't work, which could be because the previous owner added HIDs? see pictures. Did they?

b) the AFS light blinks, if previous owner added the HIDs, maybe not having enough room to move? Or could be throwing a code?

yep removed those annoying engine covers….

2) Rock Warriors

a) I would like to find a set of RW’s. If anyone has or knows of one, let me know!!

b) I researched this topic, and I agree, less rim more tire, but are 33’s as big as I can go and not effect the AHC in low setting?af

3) Air Conditioned Seat

a) Might sound like a prima donna here, but alas… the Air Conditioned seat doesn’t blow that strong, in my sister in laws infiniti FX50 is like jack frost is blowing on your taint, is there a way to clean it to allow better air flow? Or was it just crappy from the start?

4) LED’s

a) anyone know of a decent LED source? Perhaps a kit? For fogs/headlights/interior/exterior

5) Dechrome

a) has anyone tried to remove the chrome? If so pics?! And how did you do it?

6) Bluetooth audio

a) has anyone successfully upgraded there factory radio to incorporate this?

7) General Upgrades

a) any convenience upgrades you would recommend?

8) New owner maintenance

a) Any issues switching to synthetic oil? Any service I should take care of to ensure it was done? (AHC fluid change, etc) any other recommendations?

Thanks Guys!!! Cheers from North Carolina!

Hey there! Welcome to the DARK SIDE! We have cookies... truly... check out the local dealership... they have cookies.

Now to try and help out here..

DLs - Yes, you are supposed to have them. HIDs - probably not... focused halogens is what I found out they were.
33s, yes, I tried my LCs on the LX and they fit... just barely. I have a local guy who is going to try and see if he can give me LX a slight lift adjusting the AHC sensors next week. Stay tuned, as I am looking to go with 33s too, but want a little bit more clearance than 1/4" to 1/2".

Your LX should be running full synthetic now. At least that is what mine started out in life with.

Recommendations - WeatherTech, buy them now.

Lol. "Jack Frost blowing on your taint."

Sounds kinky.

Welcome steffen!

I just bought my 08 LX570 a few weeks ago so I'm in the same boat as you. Looking forward to the responses on this thread as I have many of the same questions.

What size tires were the 33s? I'm looking to pull the trigger here in the next couple weeks and would like to avoid heavy rubbing/ the stuffed look.

Anxiously awaiting the results of the sensor lift. Would love to level out the front end a bit

Me too on the leveling out! 275 70/18s BFG AT KO2s are what I am looking at. Way cheaper than the similar size in the 20" rim!

I love cookies, and removing the engine covers and Weathertech Mod complete!! Thanks for the info! I look forward to the verdict on your AHC!

Thanks! note to self: read the forum post directly below mine :flush:

Thanks!! and congrats on your new LX also!

Welcome.

don't worry about that shiny "L" taunting you. we have a club member that took his LX everywhere the cruisers went.

Those videos made me feel things….goood things

if you're feeling froggy, contact Brian Jowett @bjowett on this forum and ask about swapping tundra upper and lower control arms. There are a half dozen of us that made the swap in the 200. with the AHC, you may be able to get a little more lift out of the higher setting.

I'll take 3 and 5
The A/C seats don't blow a ton even when brand new, the biggest part of what ya feel is how many layers you're rolling between the seat and your taint:)
several guys on here have used Plastidip on the chrome, I painted my wheels with it, works great and is easy to put on and take off.
that giant L on the front just means people will be that much more shocked when they see what that thing can do on the trails!
Cheers man, welcome to the gang!

Welcome!

The front seats are only ventilated. The seat fan pulls cabin air up from a floor vent under the seat when on the cool or heat setting. When on heat, the heating element in the seat warms up also. IIRC there is a post where a deflector on the floor vent was added to direct air up towards seat bottom to aid the fan in pulling cold air.

Happy to be here! looking forward to the learning curve provided by this forum

I agree! I was not sure that I liked it at first because of the purple hue it gave off, but it is growing on me! I love the ride and the power though...

PS - Love you avatar! I told my wife about it and she thought it was great!
