Interesting location; not where I put mine but at least it will be quick and easy to access the fuses. Bonus points for originality.

For an alternate location, we bought a nice fuse box set up at West Marine and installed it on top of the under hood fuse box. We run all our Aux. equipment (winch, lights, CB) off of it and isolate them through a second battery mounted behind the air cleaner box on the passenger side.

I made a small mounting plate and mounted my Aux fuse box, 4 relays and a buss bar under the dash just to the left of the steering column. The buss bar brings power and ground for roof top lights from the battery and distributes it up to the roof via the A pillar on the driver's side then through the roof via a hole drilled under the rack foot.

Mine is located near the steering column as it passes through the firewall. Fabbed up a plate to mount one of those West Marine models. Mounted a 60AMP breaker between it and the battery - right next to my fender bulge/crack :D

this is what I did as well only used a 80 amp breaker. i used the two existing bolt and nuts to mount the fabbed plate. used the Blue Sea 6 station fuse bloc. works great.
