I remember reading that the original design was Yamaha's doing and originally offered to Nissan. Beautiful car. I agree that the design boom in the late 50s and 60s was an amazing time. It all but died in the 70s.

not counting the super rare 2000gt the best looking Toyota cars built IMHO are MKIV Supra, MKII MR2, late 70s Corolla GT.

everything else (car-wise) except some early corolla wagons and the Celica all-trac have been pretty bland

Couldn't agree more, design and flow kind of went from using splines and curves to using just rulers. Like Jeremy Clarkson said "designed by bean counters"... I always wondered if there would be mass business appeal to take those old cars and rehabing them with modern guts. But then again health and safety committees would kill them all.

The real questions are how many black flags can you attach to it, how many guys with AK's you can fit inside. Let's remember the target audience.

I diagree that the target audience is Isis, Talkban and Al queda. What a cynical viewpoint. I wish it were not designed for yuppies, soccer mons and arab sheiks, and more for outdoorsmen, but it is ridiculous to say it was designed for terrorists.

I don't think it was a joke. Don't be fooled by the fact @jamesurq was born in England. He's assimilated and become a true red blooded American. I'm sure he hates ISIS and all things related to ISIS which means he would have to hate their vehicle of choice. He only owns 3 Landcruisers because that keeps 3 out of the hands of ISIS.

How did I not know there was another Brit in the group? @jamesurq where were you born?

That LC300 is a joke... The 5.7liter V8 has been around since 2007 a little over a decade now. LC200s has not gotten a decent engine upgrade since. They used the 4.7 then 4.6 v8s also the s*** (under powered) 4.0 v6 from the fj cruiser the diesel V8 is the best atm. I refuse to purchase any LX or LC until a brand new engine comes out. A joke other manufacturers are advancing with engines and power units while Toyota is still gambling and testing its customer loyalty and patience to the extreme.

The USA spec LC200 is a joke already. Heavy, bloated, loaded with tech that will make the truck inoperable due to maintenance costs, broken parts, obsolete tech, limited access to electrical parts, and complicated interconnected systems. All of those things are great on a Merc, Audi, BMW, but not a vehicle that built its reputation on being bulletproof for long term back country travel. Call the current LC200/300 a different name, and bring a Wrangler competitor with FJ40 DNA to market. They would sell more than they could make.

Well I would welcome a new replacement for the Fj cruiser it is an amazing vehicle and any new light weight 4x4 would be awesome

I wouldn't mind a Kia Soul- like vehicle for a Daily Driver, but not sure this will be rugged enough to replace the FJC.

I hate all the new tech other companies are coming out with. the new volvo SUV has a turbo 4 banger. F that. Give me 5.7 liters of natural aspirated goodness. Also, good for toyota staying away from turbos... one more thing to break.

On the other hand, I would love to kick the ass of the guy that updated the prius exterior. talk about FUGLY.

These guys need analyze the market again. A Jeep Wrangler competitor would work. They need all the different levels and pick up options, 4 door / 2 door / anything we want.
