Hey guys,
My new to me 2000 LC has a sticky ignition switch. Sometimes it works the first time and then other times it takes some jiggling of the key and turning up the wheel to finally get it to turn. I ordered a new ignition cylinder with the transmitter housing key from Toyota but have some questions.
The transmitter key (key with lock and unlock buttons) that came with my LC will lock and unlock the vehicle but it wont start the car. I assume its not programmed.
The new ignition cylinder I bought came with 2 empty transmitter housing keys. I’m assuming I’ll need to take the guts of my key and put them into one of these.
My question is if I installed this new lock cylinder myself will the new key need to be programmed to work with the vehicle? I’m trying to figure out if this is something I can do myself or if the dealer will need to do it for me. Below are pictures of my current key (that wont start the vehicle) and the new oem lock cylinder and keys I ordered.
Any clarification would be greatly appreciated!
