Hey there fellow ih8mudders, I am new to the Land Cruiser world... I have owned a Jeep, a Tacoma, and now am in the process of selling my 2013 Tacoma and buying a cheaper vehicle. In the form of a 1992 Land Crusier HZJ73, equipped with the 1HZ, Auto trans, E lockers front and rear, Electric hub lock, 24volt, Electric winch. Recently imported from Japan by a fellow here in Alberta, it is MINT! Like no rust to be found! This thing also comes with brand new Wrangler MTRs, power locks, power windows, power seats, power mirrors even! Basically loaded.. And it has 201,000kms on it. Very well maintained! This thing is listed for $13,999.. So is this a good deal? Is it a reliable daily driver? How is the diesel as far as fuel economy?

From the photos shown, that's one clean looking truck.
Does it have a PTO winch?

As far as if it's a good deal or not.... I don't know. What I can say is that it will be worth that price (or more) to someone who really really really wants a truck like that. A couple years ago I posted up my car for sale at a price that I thought it was worth. I was in no rush to sell and it sat for almost 1.5yrs. Lots of people came and saw it offering less that what I was asking. Then one day a guy came along and bought it, no questions asked because he really wanted it. To him it was worth more. To others, much less. It boils down to how much you really want it, and how much you're willing to spend. One thing I can say is, I wish my truck's interior was as clean and nice as that one...!

I've just bought one (last week) although mine is manual, no Diff locks or winch and 1994 model. I'm loving it so far. Great daily, they're super quiet inside for a 70 series. Suspension seats are awesome too

I am from Alberta and have been watching the 70's market here since I first bought one in 2006. Prices arent what they use to be, thats for sure but nice clean units are getting harder to come by. $14,000 for that truck with those options is a good price, I have seen a lot less go for a lot more.

As for daily driver, I dont have personal experience with the HZJ73 but I have daily driven my BJ74 for the last 5 years. My advise is stay on top of the rust proofing as some areas use a lot of salt and its going to take lots of work to keep that body and frame clean. Also if your going to be doing a lot of highway driving, especially in the winter make sure your castor is at +3 to +4 degrees. Add castor shims if necassary

I have a couple of HZ73s and as a daily driver they are great. I am in the Calgary area and have seen that one advertised. You couldn't import one over in that good of condition for less and the one you are looking at should be vetted out pretty will by Hilltop. It should be a good buy. With the Auto you should get 20 to 30mpg if you are not pushing it too hard.

Hahaha! I wish i could find that warehouse.... I don't get the whole wood wheel thing... unless its a muscle car maybe
For reasons that are hard to explain, the aftermarket steering wheel is a common occurrence in Land Cruisers.

Thats a great looking truck. You must live in the US because that truck wont be allowed in until 2017. Where did you get it at such a great price?

Canada eh... Hilltop cruisers in Sundre, Alberta to be more specific...Guy imports em and does a great job finding the god ones!
