Hi everyone.... I'm a new owner of a yellow FJC. All I can say is wow. While I don't know a lot about the heritage... I've always admired the toughness and uniqueness of the old FJ's. I live in Albuquerque, NM. When I bought mine last Friday, I got the 6th one that was delivered in this city. Needless to say, I get A LOT of doubletakes. As a matter of fact, when I was driving it home from the dealership, a guy on a motorcycle nearly turned himself over trying to get a second look as he went by.

This is my first 4x4. I come from a drag racing background, but having a family, I needed a hobby car with a bit more reliability. I got all that and more in my new FJ. I can't wait to get a little more space under it with a lift and some larger tires. Anyway... I look forward to talking and learning on the forums. Y'all have a great night!! And don't worry, I always wave to ANY FJ I see on the road.

Welcome....now post some pics! :D

Yeah... i've been lazy with the camera. I might take a ride up Sandia Peak and get some good shots in the mountaints on Friday. I need to get an alarm too... all the curious people are getting a little too close for my comfort. I guess I better get used to it!!!

Welcome to 'Mud. :flipoff2:

There are several regulars that live in NM and in Albuquerque. We also have a local Toyota off-road club that you may be interested in. We have a meeting on Saturday so PM me for more information or visit our web site at www.hdcruisers.org

Post up some pics when you get a chance.

I'm not sure I'm ready for a club yet... I'm going to attempt to keep the car dent free for the first 1000 or so miles. If I show up to your meeting and see all the other trucks with all the nice customization, I'm gonna end up taking it straight to the garage to get mine done too.... and that will lead to offroading. After I get it broken in... then we will talk about clubs and offroad cruises.

In all honesty, this is being done to appease the wife. I need to keep her happy if I want to realize my offroad driving dreams.

See yall soon!!!

you'd be surprised at the number of folks in clubs with show-quality rigs that NEVER offroad them ;)

if nothing else, it's a good group to socialize with - now, post some pics!!

Pristine is dent free (relatively :D) and she's got ~160k on her clock. As Woody says, it's a family oriented group that likes Toyotas. If you're not interested in taking yours off-road, that's OK. The invitation stands.

don't forget the uzj's, fzj's, bj's, and hj's.

Pics??? Gotta see the yellow....come on buddy!! :)

Sorry guys and gals... was sick today. Was scared to venture too far from a bathroom... so I certainly wasn't going to drive my FJC... hehe. I'm going to go take some pics tomorrow. I will try to have them up tomorrow evening. I'm not very tech savvy when it comes to posting files, so I'm sure I will screw it up a few times.. just bear with me.

Thanks for the info on the club... this weekend won't be good. Maybe I can try to make the meeting next month or hook up with you guys at one of your events.

Mirrors

When I looked at the mirrors, they were very narrow as the heighth is longer than the width. Woke up this morning and wondered if they rotate? Can you check that?

Was going to take some pics today... but I couldn't find anyplace to get it dirty enough to take respectable pictures :-) I drove around for miles (mainly in the Socorro direction) looking for someplace to do some light wheeling. No luck!!! All this great land... and its all fenced off. Darn ranches and reservations!!! So if anyone has any good ideas as to where I should go as an abolute novice to see what it feels like to drive on something other than asphalt, I'm all ears. Looking for something within an hour or so of Albuquerque.

As far as the car goes... its more fun than I have had with any other car I have ever owned (including a 700 hp mustang). I love all of the looks and second takes I get when I am rolling down the street. I came out of the mall the other day and found a guy getting ready to crawl under my car to check out the undercarriage (or cut my brakelines... one of the two).

I have been checking out the HD Cruisers webpage too. I'm gonna take you guys up on your offer and try to come to the next meeting. I still owe you guys pics of my ride. Again... I really don't want to post clean pics of my first 4x4. I want orange tires and dirt dripping out of the fender wells first!!!! :flipoff2:

Happy Bunny Day to everyone. I need to go man my position on the porch and see if I can bag me a little something for dinner tomorrow.

Cajun Transplant,

There are lots of places to play in the dirt in NM. While you were down around Socorro you were close to the new BLM project called "Gordy's Hill." That's where we're headed next weekend with the FJCruiser Team. Also around Socorro are a lot of trails in the Magdelenas. Most are old mining roads. 6-mile canyon, water canyon, and the trail up to the top of South Baldy and back down to the ghost town (old mining area) at Kelly.

For a closer area, drive as far as you can go West on Southern Blvd (out in Rio Rancho.) It ends in an area we call Rio Puerco. Drive any of the routes leading up the dunes and then you'll keep heading West and into some good, relatively mild, wheeling. You can easily spend a whole day out there or just a couple of hours if you need to get back to town early. We do shake-down runs out in the Puerco.

You missed the April meeting and the May meeting will be after CM06.

Thanks for getting back with me. Yeah... I had family in from New Orleans the last couple of weeks, so I couldn't make any meetings with you guys. I am certainly planning on attending the next meeting with you guys so that I can head out on the trails with you guys at the next outing.

I am going to check out that area in Rio Rancho you were talking about. I'm right off of Coors and Paseo, so that is really close for me. Thanks for the tips to get me going. I'm looking forward to joining you guys very soon.

Do I need to fill out any paperwork or make anyone aware if I plan to attend your next meeting?

Let's take this to PM.
