I bet if you wait until the '08 are out, you may see some up-market options.
the fj interior is supposed to be better for getting wet. I wouldn't change it.

Hmmm... but the top doesn't come off... is that just in case ya leave the windows down?? I have a 40 with vinyl seats, a 60 with cloth seats and an 80 with leather seats... The cloth seats are the ones I don't wanna get wet.
The FJ seats are water resistant.

I say if she wants luxury the 4runner would better suit her. The FJ is not as refined which is why i like it.
I agree with the last post. If she wants a mall suv you should get her one. Otherwise the FJ is the best choice.
Leather seats are cold in the winter. Tell her if she wants leather seats, she better make sure she can get them pre-heated haha because they are COLD even if you have heated seats because you have to wait til they warm up.

Well, for now, there's a TuRD in the driveway. After driving the 4Runner, and the Avalon she preferred the Avalon for comfort, but the price along with it's "non-unique" appearance and the "run-of-the-mill SUV" look of the 4Runner, made her lean to the FJ. She's gotten used to heated, power adjust leather seats, but seems content with the cloth. Loves the way it drives, it truly handles well on the road.
Plus I told her that if she wants out at or near the end of the lease that it would look nice in my stable, next to it's older brethren......
She's a keeper.....

Congrats on your purchase, It's nice to see that not all the Landcruiser diehards are turning their noses up to the FJC.

As for how I got a girlfriend I'll show ya if ya really want me to, heh.
I know a couple of girls that got the FJ because they thought it was "cute". Now they want something like a fully loaded 4 runner with leather, etc.
The FJ is not a luxury vehicle and it shouldn't be.

The GF could have ordered the FJ, if one was not available, with leather-faced seats and carpet. One of our dealers had an FJ with these options and 20" wheels to create the ultimate 4x4 pavement pounder/mall crawler. As someone else mentioned, she can always upgrade to leather via one of the aftermarket industries. I bet your local dealer would even be happy to supply the middleman services if you ask. 
I have been spoiled by an electro-chromatic/Home-link mirror (auto-dimming/garage controls) for too long. If Toyota asked my opinion on options, that one would definitely be at the top of my list! The FJs rearview mirror blows - returns images that look like they belong in a circus funhouse.
