I just picked up an m416. I do not think it has ever had anything put in the back. There are no dents, rust ect. I was thinking of building a rack to get my roof top tent off of the 60. I still want it to be high enough to put the enclosure on and be able to walk under it. Any one used the surge brake on one of these? Should I just take it off and extend the front? Thanks

Damn! Nice trailer. How much did you score that for (If I may ask)? I'm looking at one right now, so I'll be following your thread.

That's a sweet find. Good Luck to you on the build. I like those bearing buddies on it.

m416

Got it hooked up to the trailer and the hight is just right. I took it down the road and you dont know it is there. This thing is so clean that i think i should keep it simple. I just dont think i can cut it up. Maybe a removable rack for the tent, cover, water system, battery, arb fridge ect. Well i am sure all of that wont fit.

Wow, looks great w/the 60.

All that stuff will fit, just barely.

if it is real rare maybe i should sell and buy one in not so good shape so i can cut it up?

If you're adamant about cutting into it, then sell it and buy another. You can easily make money off of that trailer, regardless of what you paid for it.

More than 1k, for sure. Post it up on some of the dedicated vintage military forums and I'm sure you'll find someone who will buy it.

Cool trailer bud...... call me & let me take a look at your purchases:D

Definitely do not cut that one up. It's too nice. Someone with an M151 MUTT (1960's Ford "Jeep") would really like that for display.

Nice trailer... how wide is your roof top tent...
Im about to put mine on top but Im afraid it will stick out on both sides if I set it the way you have it...

Yeah, cutting on that would be like taking an OEM tailgate and cutting it in half to make barn doors.

Check out the vintage military sites or put it on eBay. You should make enough to by a similar less-perfect trailer and do some nice mods.

roof top tent is 57x48. if i put it to open on the side i would have to cut the roof rack. i like it going to the back because it makes a great cover while cooking on the tailgate. so if i do not cut it what about making a drop in rack? tent in the middle, rack on one side for kyak, other for storage box with outdoor kitchen, then rear rack for bikes? if it was drop in and used 4 u bolts to hold it down. maybe water tank, 2 batteries, custome cover ect in the floor. some of you computer guys with design software healp me out.
