I'm still trying to get used the quality of sound coming out of the CB speaker. It's a bit low, bassy type sound and I think my hearing is losing that frequency or something. I need to figure out a way to make the sound come out with bit more treble. (is that even a word?). If anyone has any ideas on how to change the sound quality (cap/resistor/inductor?), pls enlighten me.

I have this same set up as all of you, since the cb has a speaker jack in the back couldn't you just run two of your own speakers or the little speakers in the dash, hell if you chose other speakers than the ones already in the dash you should be able to at least mount your new speakers in the space in the dash where the other two speakers came out of.

I like using the existing speakers in the bottom part of the dash for this. I'll try these out to see how they sound. I think others have done this as well.

Those are the speakers I am talking about, you have to wire them so they will be 4 ohms instead of 8 owms or something like that, I read a thread describing just this proceedure.

My Cobra CB is pretty loud. I can hear stuff pretty well. I have a Wilson fiberglass antenna on my rear bumper. I've seen others put a small cable extension from the CB to the glove compartment and from there they are able to connect a mag mount antenna on the roof.

My only complaint with this CB setup, and I don't think it's the CB's fault. Is that if you have your stereo playing and you key the CB mike, you will hear yourself speak through the stereo speakers. If the stereo volume is loud, then you'll get a nasty feed back.

There's another list member with the same setup as me, with a stereo head unit by the same manufacturer (Alpine). He also has the same issue.

Alia, yours I think is a Sony. Do you have the same issue?

Regards

Alvaro

Sorry Alvaro, I'm not experiencing the same issues. This sounds suspiciously like a grounding issue some where! I'm using a rubber ducky antenna for my Sony head unit. I pulled all of the old antenna and all coax out and installed all new. Perhaps, the power antenna ground that you have for the head unit is allowing leakage?

Ali,

That would make sense if I was listening to the radio (AM/FM) but this happens with CDs or the AUX input.
I will check the radio antenna, my is refusing to go all the way up and it might be time for a new antenna mast.

Regards

Alvaro

Can you hear anything with the stereo turned off? I mean, stick your ears next to the speakers and see if you can hear any bleed through. If so, then your CB antenna grounding is suspect. I know, I know, you're sick of hearing this! Or the fate has ruled against you when it comes to CB radios!

Ali,

With the radio off I don't hear anything from my seat. I'll do the test you suggest and let you know.

Regards

Alvaro
