Go ahead and start thinking about sliders so you can wheel. We have a few on this board that prefer to buy lifts, lockers and tires and have excuses not to wheel because they don't have sliders. :)

Yeah definitely sliders first. You would have to be crazy to buy things like a bumper, tires, a lift and a locker before buying sliders............wait a minute...............:hhmm:..........................:hillbilly:...........:flipoff2:

So what sliders does everyone prefer? Thanks for the pics and info guys.

I happen to really like the metal tech ones bt everyone has opinions to why they purchase the ones they did. With the capabilities building them is by far the way to go because you get exactly what you want, problem is it can get pretty pricey pretty quick.

I've been really happy with my slee sliders but if I did it again I would probably go with the metaltech ones. The added 'kickout' and the fact you can get them semi local (IPOR in VA) is a plus.

I am very happy with my Hanna sliders. That's my stock level truck in the pics above. That said, I have a strong desire for OME mediums and 305's. :)

there is a guy in H.P. that has really good Fab skillz and i have discussed building a set of sliders for the 80 with him. He added the tubing to the outside of mine, that were homemade here locally also using a design posted up in the 80's tech section (GeorgeTLC). Once Steve finally goes over and he takes some measurements, i think that would be a good local option for a good price. Plus you won't have to pay for shipping.

Here is a pic of mine with the added tubing. I wish they were just a little longer, but when i built mine i still had flares.

They look really good!!! Where is he at it High Point?

Hes down near Ingleside, off north main towards the 311. Hopefully once he gets a chance to build the first set, reproduction may be quicker and simpler from there out.

I really wish I had put sliders on before doing anything, but too late now. On the other hand, anyone who doesn't wheel b/c they don't have sliders is ghey :) and likely has much nicer rockerpanels than mine.

Have you seen the sliders from Bump It offroad. They look pretty much like stock boards but with actual protection. I do not know which way I will go yet. I need to actually see some trucks with different sliders to make a good decision.

I saw those today they look really good. I have been planning for a while to take my 80 over to Alex's guy and drop it off for a few days and get him to make a set for me, I just havent had the extra money :bang:

Those do look good from Bumpit, at least in the cyber world. In my opinion, the shipping on sliders is a HUGE deal killer. They are heavy, big and don't package in a FedEx truck very well, which makes shipping really expensive.

Yeah the shipping would not be cheap from CO. I prefer to do something locally or just do it myself.
