I am the new owner of a stock 1995 Land Cruiser with factory locks,in good condition and never off road. It has 140,000 miles, almost loaded except for no factory installed roof rack but I did not want that anyway. I purchased it from the original owner and he had all the paperwork/service history for it. The front axles were completely serviced about two years ago, a new A/C compressor, and a new alternator.

Cool, I just picked up my stock 94 a couple days ago, but no lockers. More of a town vehicle as it will be mainly for my 16 yo daughter and for hauling her sister's motorcycle here & there. Mine's got 191K.

Got any pics?

Welcome to mud!

Welcome :flipoff2: , pics yet? :flipoff2: Seriously you will find this site invaluable. Depending on where you are in Cali you might want to check out the SoCal 80's area in the Clubhouse Corner. We are a very low key group that have 80's in common but welcome all comers, even heeps. Love the avitar!

I will checkout and perhaps join the club as I live in the area. I will take pics of the Cruiser tomorrow. The avatar is my big dog. He's a South African Boerboel Mastiff.

Thats pretty funny, my 95 is loaded as well, Lockers, Leather, 3rd row, gold Bling package, but no alarm or roof rack.

Kinda weird they could be that loaded and missing some things at the same time.

The only thing you have to do to join in post up and say hello. :D We are real informal, no meetings unless we want to go wheel or the occasional PM party. For the most part we are between LA and SD and east to San Bernadino.

I was going to guess your dog was a mastiff but I honestly have never heard of a South African Boerboel one. Used to have a Bull Mastiff as a kid, great dog.

IIRC the alarm and roof rack are port installed options and are actually installed here before they are delivered to the dealer. There were different companys that did this depending on which port the Cruiser arrived in. Consider yourself lucky as the roof rack is installed with steel nutserts in the roof and you are left with 14 or so rusting holes by now if it had been. Most US 80's had the roof racks installed but a lucky few did not.

What mods should I do first? I have $1000 set aside this year for the LC and want to get the most for my $$$. Any suggestions? She's going to be primarily a hunting and expedition rig. I drive a company car for work so my LC won't be used as a daily driver.

Welcome:flipoff2:

Buy an ARB bull bar first

I would suggest upgrading the electrical to be sure you have a strong foundation you can rely on in the sticks hunting or exploring (Credit to Beowulf on the current ROTW thread). Not as much fun as the lift and armor. Plan in advance for everything electrical that you think you will ever use and set up for more than that. A good dual battery setup with deep cycle/s (see FAQ) and power ports f/r can be really nice to run a fridge, power inverter, music, movies, lights etc. An ARB with a good winch is also invaluable if you find yourself in areas that you can get stuck away from civilization. If you ask 1000 Mudders you will probably get 999 different suggestions but a good scouring of the FAQ should help you decide what is best for your intended use.

Good Luck

Official Mud Welcome! :flipoff2:

Great place to start on this forum is the FAQ section for 80's. There's a wealth of information there to start with.

There have been other threads about where to start with $ and mods. Careful, this site is addicting regarding modifications. I ought to know. There's an old thread with comments from yours truely about not ever wanting to do any of the things I've subsequently done to my truck! :D

ARB winch ready front is a great start. If your suspension is original, consider an Old Man Emu replacement. The 2.5 inch lift is great and consider heavy coils all around if you pack lots of 'stuff' for your trips. I've done a few things and the one big thing I wish I'd already done is a dual battery setup. This is important if you've got lots of extra electronics running like a fridge, CB, inverter, etc.

Congrats on the lack of a factory rack. You'll eventually run into solutions several of us have done to 'cover' those pesky nutserts used to install the factory rack. Lots of quality expedition roof racks to consider as well.

Another option - upgrade the tires to at least 285's if you are running stock tires. They will fit on a stock truck and the spare will fit also.

Most importantly - if you need OEM parts - Cruiserdan at American Toyota - see the red banner ad upper right for him and all the other great vendors that support this board. Also - buy a silver star from Woody to support the board. You won't regret it!

As Mo said, check us out in the SoCal 80's club corner.
