Hey all, new member here. I've been a big fan of the LC for years and years. I come from the LS 400 world mainly as I've been working on them for 20 years. But we have a second child on the way and wanted to get the family into an SUV. After weeks and weeks of searching we picked up a '13 LX 570 with 98k miles. It's a one-owner local trade here in FL.
I hadn't spent any time under a LC and what I've seen under ours supports the spectacular reputation that these things have. What a cool vehicle.
It has been dealer serviced every 5k per the book. They ran 10k oil change intervals per the book. As it nears 100k in the coming weeks I'm looking to do some above and beyond maintenance that Toyota calls for under severe conditions or towing/off roading while we primarily use the truck as a family transporter except for mountain trips and such like that. I'm sure the transmission, axles and transfer case have never been touched. I'm going to change the ATF for sure but am debating about the axles and transfer case. The 75W for the transfer case is obviously very expensive as it's been talked about on this board but I would still choose the genuine 75W as it's not all that much money when it comes to doing it right or doing it wrong. The same goes for the axles. I just wonder if 100k is too early to be doing stuff like that.
One thing that ticks me off a bit is that the No. 2 under cover, the little cover the covers the engine oil drain plug, is missing. Even with a high end luxury vehicle is maintained at the high end luxury dealership, the techs can still be lazy and careless with their work. The stupid cover is not available alone and appears to only be available by buying the entire $250+ under cover. Perhaps spending some time on this board I may find someone who removed the stock under cover for a metal aftermarket one that would part with the little cover if I pay shipping or something.
Looking forward to spending some time around here!
