I have posted here before with a different account. Finally remembered my old password, so here I am again! :bounce:
I have owned 2 80 Series trucks, (97 LX450, 96 Land Cruiser). Lots of homework, several Tacoma's and 4runners later, I have decided to make the leap into a 100 Series.
Found this gem on consignment at a local dealer. Previous owner was an engineer for the Department of Energy in nearby Oak Ridge, and took exceptional care of the truck with a phone book of service records and preventive maintenance galore.
Although skeptical because of the high mileage 270k, after driving a few other lower mileage trucks, after some minor haggling, I threw down the $7500 for this 2002 100 Series Land Cruiser in Atlantis Blue Mica. Her name is "Elsa"

I have actually owned this truck since December. Here are a few items I have done since then.

*Replaced both hood struts
*Gone to full synthetic Mobil 1 High Mileage oil, and Genuine Toyota Filter
*New red top battery
*Genuine Toyota timing belt, water pump, all required tensioners and pullies. all dealer installed.
*New antenna mast and motor. :crybaby::crybaby::crybaby:

There are absolutely no leaks, service lights, check lights, and everything works, with the exception of 1 of the actuators in the door locks acts up occasionally. Truck is exceptionally clean with minimal rust underneath.
This truck is the epitome of what I was looking for to truck the family around as my DD, as well as adventuring, camping, hiking etc.
I realize I am the minority here, and for most here it is absolutely necessary to upgrade, but I think these trucks look great with the factory bumpers, although when the littles get to be big enough to jump in and out, I will take the running boards off. I do not plan to do a ton of building on it, but here is a short list of things I plan to do to create my DD/adventure/family truckster.
*When the Michelin LTX MS/2's are ready to be replaced, I will go with a more aggressive tire, maybe slightly larger.
*Possibly a minor lift.
*Remove running boards
*Roof rack

I am not very mechanically inclined, so I look forward to bugging the hell out of you guys with questions and crisis.
Pete
