Greetings all!

I am purchasing a '99 LC from California and embarking on a 10 day journey back east home to PA.

After reading a few hundred pages and seeing about a 1000 pictures of the 100s in the Hills event, my current plan is to pass through Ouray and Telluride from Oct 4-6th.

I'll be driving a stock '99 LC with e-locker and new BFG ATs so should be decently capable but will need to stick to the easier stuff. Would love to meet up with a few folks who wouldn't mind showing me some of the good stuff and hanging out and doing some trails together.

I'm up for anything, so if anyone is out that way, or we can get a few folks to make a weekend of it that would be awesome!

Here's a link to the thread I posted on the hundy forum: https://forum.ih8mud.com/100-series-cruisers/773392-buying-99-cross-country-adventure-ca-pa.html

Thanks,

Ben

Congrats on the 100 purchase Ben, you'll love it.

Hopefully one of these guys will be up for a trip with you.

Unfortunately, I've got a family engagement that weekend, so I'm out.

Good Luck on the trip!

I know Engineer and Cinnamon had about 2 feet of snow this past week...and will likely get some more this weekend. So that may hinder some of the trails above about 10 kft down in the San Juans. Its worth the visit down there though. Its getting to be that time of year again...

So far I'm going to put Last Dollar Road and Owl Creek Pass on the agenda.

I've got the files from the 100s in the Hills event, but I'm guessing those might be a little too high elevation??

Anyone else around and want to come out and have some fun??

I'm not sure which trails they did for the event. Owl Creek Pass is a dirt road with a few views...decent camping around Silver Jack Reservoir. I'm not familiar with Last Dollar Road. Road closures out of Silverton, Ouray and Lake City will depend on weather...I heard they cleared out a few of the passes, but its snowing up there right now (most likely will be a few inches, but not much) followed by a warm week. There does look like there will be another storm by next Thursday with better chances for snow up high. Even if you can't do the high passes...there are lots of ghost towns and shorter/semi-lower trails around Silverton and Ouray. And you can hike for days, camp for free in some areas. If I wasn't working I'd come down...but work is always in the way!

Last dollar road was great. Cool scenery, good camping. It was there my wife and I got woke up by a sheep herder and his flock. Very cool. Not hard wheeling, good cruising trail.

Last chance, anyone in the Telluride area wanna do some trails tomorrow or Saturday?
